Hi all, I am new to this board and planning our trip for October. I just want to say thank you to everyone for the wealth of information I have learned this past week in reading all the posts.

I am getting over one of my many surgeries and need a scooter for the parks. Has any one ever used Apple Scooter rental? they had the absolute best prices but would like to use them if I know someone had a good experience with them. Next option would be Randy's which many of you had positive comments for.

Also, I have to give props to Disneys Special Needs people as they have been so fabulous and generous in assisting me with getting a room that fits my needs while still letting me stay in budget at a value resort.

This is our first stay on site and our first visit for my DD who is 4.

TIA, Maxine

I am in the same boat :) I booked two scooters for Dec with Apple for my mom and uncle who are coming with us and who would not be able to do so otherwise. I spoke with the owner and he seemed very nice and accommodating. They are also located by Downtown Disney. I did search and find some positives on here. I would love to know if anyone else out there has anything else to say about them.

And we rented the small go go scooter and the next larger one. We had no issues with the scooters or the owner.

Infact, we got a bonus of an early day; we were told our scooter would be waiting the night before for us. It was probably not worth picking it up from a previous customer. Anyway, we decided to go a day early; so, this was a nice extra.

I am also renting from them at the end of August. I called the person on the phone seemed really nice. The price is great. It is costing me more than 1/2 of what is would cost to rent at the parks. I figure I will try it this once. Michelle

We used Apple in May and were quite pleased. Very fair price, delivered to our camp site (I thought we'd have to pick it up at the check in gate) and we left it at the front desk (gate) when we left. We got the regular sized one with the captains chair. Held it's charge great! In fact, DH would drive it back to our site each night rather than wait and load up on another bus and it still almost had a full charge after a full day at the parks. We would use them again if needed.

We have a scooter reserved for my step-father for July 30-Aug 4.

I spoke to Jose on the phone and he seemed nice. I will post a reveiw when we get back!:goodvibes

I rented one from Apple this past May, I had no problems with them. I had to changed my dates a few times and they were wonderful!

I had to call them the first day because the horn didn't work, I don't really use the horn, but didnt want to be charged for it being broken.

He explained it was rainy season so they disable them because if they get wet they blare until they dry out....Could take an hour! :scared1:

He also explained that insurance was included in the rental price, so if it was broken or stolen it wouldn't cost me anything!

I have already booked my reservation for another one in Oct!

The scooter was in perfect shape, held a charge the whole day from open to close! I won't use anyone else!!

I've rented from both Walker and Buena Vista in the past and have had some issues...

I decided to go with Apple last month... I'm pleased to say I was very happy both with the service and the scooter... got the larger one so I would get the longer battery life...

They have the best price, especially since the insurance is included :thumbsup2
I have another scooter rented from Apple for next week, in fact!:goodvibes

Have to add, though, that the scooters have a big "Rent me" sign plastered over the back of the seat... had a couple of people ask when I was available and how much I charged :lmao:

I just have to say while I am sure this wasn't funny - it is hysterical to read about. I seriously hope my uncle ends up with one like this because he is the type of guy to always have an answer for the person asking - it may provide us with some extra entertainment :) Now, my mom on the other hand, tehehe...

The first time it happened it took me a couple minutes to figure it out... the next time I was ready for it! :rotfl2:

I'm more like your uncle I think... bet he'd have some fun with it ;)
As for mom, maybe she could hang a sweater or jacket over the back to hide the sign... on the other hand, a little teasing from the family might be acceptable :rolleyes1

Thanks, everyone! I have my reservation with Apple ready to go for October.

I am already starting to think of quick answers to the "Rent Me" question. :rotfl:

DH is gonna get a kick out of this!

A quick question about Apple Scooters... a friend of mine is leaving for Disneyworld in 2days and has broken her toe.. She wants me to rent one of these scooters for her. The problem is, her flight time to return home. It's at 6:35 am, which is way too early to return the scooter (the website says 8a - 8p). Would it be ok if they left it at the Polynesian resort?

Thanks :goodvibes

The scooter rental places usually drop the scooters off and pick them up at the resorts. Ive always left mine at my resort and have had no problems. Just tell the rental place your plans and what time you will be leaving and they will tell you where to leave it :) They are very accomodating!

Being a disabled person and going to DIsney every year, Ive rented from more than a few places! Ive never had any major problems with any rentals except for a flat tire and a bad battery but in both cases the rentals were replaced within the hour!

Last year I rented from Orlando Scooter and rented "The Dream" Its the Harley of EVCs!! i LOVED it and will never rent another type of scooter again! It was big enough to be more comfortable than average and to hold a charge forever but small enough to go anywhere a regualr scooter can go!

You can see it in action here:
https://www.scootorlando.com/clip/dream/action.html

It was the same rental price as their regular scooters but I liked it a lot better! I highly recommend it! Some people may be intimidated but the way it looks but I found it easy to drive. You can even get it on the lift buses if you back on the lift and turn the front wheel sideways. I couldnt get the other regular scooter rentals on the lift buses. The Dream saved us a lot of time waiting on buses because it could fit on any of the Disney buses! The only draw back is if you want a canopy on a rental which I do recommend for the elderly because the Florida sun is brutal! And the dream doesnt have one. It has a basket for carrying things but no canopy. I just plaster on sunscreen and go though so its fine for me.

Ive checked prices but haven't found a huge price difference in any of them plus Orlando gives a decent discount to return renters so if you plan on going again its a good deal :)

As far as regular rentals, ive had great experiences with all of them including Apple :)
Have a wonderful trip!! Disney is so accomodating for people with disabilities! Its my favorite place to visit!!

Thanks eelore, I appreciate the quick reply... I went ahead and booked the rental..:thumbsup2

Youre very welcome :) I remember the first time I went to Disney after I wrecked and became disabled! I was lost in planning and didnt know how to go about doing anything. People helped me to figure it all out and I had an awesome trip! Disboards is full of wonderful people all willing to help. :)

Your scooter will be at Bell Services ready for you when you arrive at your resort. I often leave mine late the evening before when we have an early departure... just drop it off at Bell Services where you picked it up. :thumbsup2

This September will be our 3rd trip to Disney. I have pretty bad feet and if I walked around Disney all day I would not be able to walk the next day, so I rent a scooter to help keep the pain at bay. I do, at times, however park it and walk in a general area for a while.

On our first trip, I rented from Scooterama... had a couple of issues, my scooter ran out of power 3/4 of the way thru our 1st day! We were at AK and it didn't have enough power to go up the small hilly roads. I literally had to get off of it and push it on the hills. I must have looked like a site! When we finally got it to the resort, I got it charged up... it just wasn't fully charged!! However, the 2nd day I realized I had a different problem. The scooter would surge forward and then come to a slow stop... almost like it wanted to die again. I never complained to the company, so it wasn't their fault that it didn't get fixed, it was mine. My Mother also rented one and she had no problems.

The next year, I went with Buena Vista... and programed their number into my cell phone. I drove that scooter around the 1st day and much to my dismay, it also did the surge and stop thing!!! The next morning, I got up early and tested the fully charged scooter and found it still doing it, so I called Buena Vista and within an hour I had a new scooter. Problem was, it too did the surge thing (although not to the same degree). I just kept using it, my brother borrowed it one night when I went back to the resort early, and he didn't have any problems. I believe that I was actually the problem. This was back in 2008 and I weighed around 260... I weigh a tad more now, but still under the 300 limit for the regular scooters. Still, I decided then that the next time we went I would rent the heavy duty model instead.

That leads us to this year, I was going to go with Buena Vista again, but started shopping around to see if I could find any better deals. I stumbled up Orlando Scooter Rentals.. and fell head over heels in love with the Dream!!!! I fully intended to rent that... but... while waiting to find out if Free Dining was going to be a reality (didn't want to reserve earlier, in case I had to switch resorts to get FD), Disney decided to start enforcing the rule about size of ECV on buses and there was a bit of conterversy regarding whether or not the Dream would be allowed!!! Heartbroken, I did some more research and found Apple Scooters. The price was about $60 cheaper for me to rent than the Dream and included insurance. By this time I was torn... go with the one that I wanted to try and worry about the risk later (by risk I mean encountering an over zealous bus driver that flat out refuses to take the Dream because you have to turn the wheel to get it in the box) or save money. After all, the Apple scooter did have a nice captains chair even if it didn't look like a cycle, it still looks nice. In the end, money won out! After we knew for sure we were staying at ASSp, I booked an Apple Scooter online. Got a confirmation email from them, stating that I didn't have to get them my payment information until a week before arrival!!! I plan on doing that before then, but have some doubts running thru my head.

I have heard nothing but good reports about Apple and I am not second guessing renting from them. My concerns are more of a confidential nature. I HATE giving my payment information over a phone, but I haven't been able to verify that their payment site is a secure website. That concerns me. Has anyone that has rented from them previously had any issues with payment? I would like to know its safe before giving out that kind of information.
