Apple Dumplings...

Two magical words in my house in the fall. Today my Dsis and Dbil were here so I made 10 dumplings. We had them before dinner. Yep. Couldn't wait. Then we ate pot roast at 8pm. I feel stuffed from all that today but the house sure smelled good.

What means fall to you?

mmmmmm apple dumplings and pot roast. I'm hungry now!! lol! To me, fall becomes official about now when the beautiful red just begins to show on the maples trees. I love the glow. We're taking a color ride this afternoon, we'll be picking apples and getting a couple early pumpkins. Can't wait!!

'big pot cooking' and lots of leftovers

fall is when we transition out of bbq'ing and i revert to making big batches of cold weather food. this week it's been homemade clam chowder, chili and spagetti with meat sauce (including dh's homemade italian sausage).
for me this means the house smells great, and there's plenty of leftovers for school lunches.

some of the kitchen appliances that got put away for summer are back at the ready-the bread maker, the slow cooker, and the roasting pan.

visualy the leaves are turning, and you can see smoke from neighbor's fireplaces (i love the smell). the kids at the bus stops are bundling up-and you see more mom's sitting with kids in cars waiting for the bus

Recipe, please?

I have never made apple dumplings. They sound good. Are they easy to make?

We have the Honeycrisp apples in the stores now and those are my favorite.
