This is not the place for an analysis on whether the deal makes sense; however, Apple is sitting on a bunch of cash and Disney's market cap is a fraction of Apple's. They're both great companies that are tops in their fields. Anything is possible.

Keep in mind this is just market analysts talking about what Apple could do based on their available money and stated company goals. Nowhere in the article does it quote anybody from either company so this is nothing more than Wall Street Fan Fiction at this point.

You didn't read the story. It's all about content. Disney has loads of content and Apple has lots of things to put the content on.

As the article clearly states, tech companies are looking for content companies, because that content can be driven to their tech. Think: Google Play, etc.

I read the story alright. I just don't agree with its premise.

The story is about an analyst's theory that Apple could buy Disney. No where does it say that Apple has actually expressed any interest in this idea, nor does it say whether Disney would be receptive to any offers.

As I read more "rumors" about a possible Apple acquisition of Disney I start to think that it makes more sense from Apple's perspective. Clearly, Disney is attractive to Apple from a content perspective. However, the parks, resorts, and ships are not content. I can see Apple holding onto the parks and resorts since the parks are iconic pieces of the Disney empire. I can also see Apple holding onto to the resorts since they are so closely linked with the parks. I'm not so sure Apple would be interested in DCL. IMHO, DCL gets sold to another cruise ship line if Apple acquires Disney. Perhaps Carnival or Royal Caribbean would be interested in adding another subsidiary?

More than likely, Apple doesn't make a play for Disney, but if it does, DCL could be sold off to the highest bidder.

If you want to own Disney stock, then buy Disney stock. But I wouldn't buy Disney stock in the hopes that Apple will acquire them.
