Appetizers on the DDP

Has anyone been able to get an appetizer instead of a dessert on the regular DDP this year? I have seen a few posts that say that is possible?

we plan to pay OOP if there's an appetizer we want (that isn't covered on the DDP anymore, and if they won't substitute it for dessert)

pretty lousy it's not included this year....

I have never seen a post that says one can substitute an appetizer for a dessert on the basic plan.

I've seen many posts that say such a substitution is not permitted under any circumstances.

I would be very surprised to see this as it would defeat the whole purpose of eliminating appys.

True! They want to turn those tables over as fast as they can. If husband orders an appetizer (to share), then each order an entree, then wife orders a dessert (to share), it will take longer to turn over that table, than if each just ordered an entree and dessert. Plus appetizers are more expensive and time consuming to make than desserts.
