Appetizers on Dining Plan- can soup count?

I'm going over our ADR's and looking at menus and getting really hungry! My question is has anyone ordered soup or salad instead of an appetizer from the appetizer section of the menu? The soup is always cheaper it seems, but i didn't know if you have to pick a technical appetizer.

I much prefer soup before my entree

I've done it at both Sci Fi and LeCellier. I'd assume you could anywhere that offers soup.

As long as it isn't an entree salad or entree soup, salads and soups will probably be considered a valid appetizer by all participating restaurants.
