Appetizer Recipes for Christmas Eve?

We tend to do this as well. In the past we have had scallops wrapped in bacon.:goodvibes

I kinda do something similar with cream cheese, cocktail sauce and lump crab meat with club crackers - yummy!

Hot nacho dip:

1 block velveeta, 1 can Ro-Tel, 1 roll of ground sausage. Brown sausage, drain and put in crock pot on low, add cheese (cubed) and can of Ro-Tel. Stir frequently and serve hot with nacho chips. That is one of my favs!!

Can' go wrong - finger foods are great!!

Baked Wontons - can do the day before. Just press each in a mini muffin tin and bake for 5 minutes to brown a little.

Fill with:

Sausage/Cheese/Olive Stuffing -
brown 1 lb italian sausage and crumble.
Mix with 8 oz monterey jack cheese
8 oz cheddar cheese
1 small jar ranch dressing
chopped olives

bake for a few minutes to warm stuffing and serve. Makes a ton and are always a hit.

I also stuff wontons with:

Spinach and Mushroom Stuffing:

Saute a little butter and garlic
add chopped mushrooms
add spinach (frozen) thawed and drained
Add 1 cup parmesan cheese
Add 1/4 cup heavy cream

Yummy!!!!!!

Hi! I Am planning on doing just many different appetizers (finger foods) for Christmas Eve and would love some new ideas?? Every year I do spinach dip in a bread bowl, meat balls or lil smokies in the crock pot and a cheese ball!:scared1: This year I would love to try some different things!:confused3 Any ideas??
Instead of smokies in a crock pot, we recently did turkey meatballs in a crock pot with a can of jelled cranberry gloop and a bottle of BBQ sauce. It tasted awesome and since I used turkey meatballs, the lite BBQ sauce, and lowfat crackers, I don't even think it violated my diet.

Speaking of lowfat crackers, we used those yummy pretzel chips instead of crackers or chips. They did the job perfectly and are really tasty.

Ok I have one that most people don't have, it is called Hanky Pankies.
anyway, here goes.

1pound ground beef
1 pound Jimmy Dean sauage
1 pound velveeta cheese
1 teaspoon each oregano, garlic salt and red pepper
3 loaves Pepperidge Farm party rye bread

Cook sausage mashing it to make ti cumbly. Drain. do the same with Ground beef. combine the two and add cheese over low heat to melt. Add Spices. Let thicken. Spread on rye bread. Place on cookie sheet and freeze (covered with foil) After a few hours put into plastic bags iuntil ready to bake.

bake at 400 degree to 10 to 15 minutes.

these and tast like little sauage pizzas without the tomato sauce. Every body I make them for loves them, and if you don't use them all you can leave the rest frozen in the baggies for a little New Years treat.

"Spinach balls
1 10oz pkg frozen chopped spinach
2 C seasoned stuffing mix, finely crushed (I use Pepperidge Farm stuffing)
1/2 C grated parmesan cheese
3 eggs beaten
6 Tb softened butter
1/2 small onion, diced
1/8tsp thyme
salt and pepper to taste

Cook spinach and drain well. Combine with all other ingredients. Roll into walnut sized balls and put in fridge to marinate overnight. Bake at 350 about 10min."

I was going to post this, but someone already did. They are excellent. I got the recipe from my mother-in law and we have had them every Christmas with Mimosas for the 17 plus years I have been with them. I had never seen the recipe anywhere else. I double the recipe becuase the men in our family easily eat 6-10 each. The only thing I do different if that I grate the onion as I don;t like onion much , but the flavor is essential for the recipe. One of the best things about this is you can make the balls ahead and freeze them uncooked. TO freeze put them on a baking sheet with Wax paper about 1 inch apart. Once frozen toss them into a ziplock bag and put back in freezer. Keep frozen until you cook them because they will get mushy and blend together if you thaw them uncooked. Add about 10 minutes to cooking time if frozen. They should be a light golden brown( and green of course) when done. People who don;t like spinach still love this recipe. I don;t marinate them overnight, I just mix, them, freze them, and then bake straight from freezer. In fact I am hoping to get mine done next week to have it out of the way.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

2 pkgs. (approx. 12 oz. each) southwest or plain pre-cooked chicken
2 blocks (8 oz. each) of cream cheese
1 ¼ cup Frank’s Hot Sauce
½ stick butter
8 oz. Monterey Jack shredded cheese
1 jar Marie’s Blue Cheese or Ranch dressing

Melt butter and sauté chicken in frying pan. Add hot sauce and simmer 5 – 10 minutes. Spread cream cheese in bottom of 13 x 9 inch pan. Place chicken on top of cream cheese. Spread dressing over chicken and top with cheese. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Serve with nacho chips.

*I have not been able to find 12 oz packages of chicken. I think most are 10 oz. and that is what I use. I have also used canned chicken (found near the tuna fish in the store) and it works fine. Most times I cook as it says above then pour the whole thing into a crock pot so it stays warm.

**I used ranch dressing—not a blue cheese fan.

This sounds great! Thanks everyone for sharing! I can't wait to try them!

This is known in our house as "Polish mistakes". Thanks for reminding me, we burned ourselves out on these several years. I am now anxious to make them again, so good!

An oldie but goody... I recently resurrected this and it has been a hit everytime I served it.

Cheese-Crab Muffins

1 jar Kraft Old English cheese
1 stick butter
1 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp Mayo
1 6 oz can crab
1 6 pack English muffins

Soften cheese and butter in the microwave. Mix cheese, butter, garlic powder and mayo. Drain crabmeat and mix in. Split English muffins and spread mixture onto the 12 halves. Cut into fourths- freeze on tray
(believe me do this before you freeze them- I forgot once)
Store in food storage till you want to use them.

Take directly out of freezer and bake 10-15 minutes at 450. If not frozen, bake at 375 for 5-10 minutes. Besides the great taste, what I love about these is that I can keep them in the freezer and just pop into the oven.:dance3:

yummmmm
8 oz pkg cream cheese
1 can cream of shrimp soup
1 can small shrimp

Melt cheese on low heat
Add soup and shrimp
Simmer until hot

Serve with Bugles or scoops- something you can grab dip with easily. Guaranteed to please!

I love this one!!! I just use 1# ground beef, browned instead of the sausage. It's great because I usually have all the stuff on hand and can throw it together pretty quickly. Always goes well!

Another yummy one is bacon wrapped hot dogs or little smokies. I wrap up hot dogs w/bacon. Roll them in brown sugar. Broil them until bacon is cooked. Drop them into a crockpot and throw on some BBQ sauce (Cookies brand in my fav). Yummo!

Oh - and I second the Harry & David with cream cheese. We don't have a place to buy it anywhere near here, but I LOVE that stuff!!!

I think I posted to another thread about this same thing tonight
so this may be repeat info- but here goes

artichoke dip- takes 5 minutes to prep

1 cup each mayo, sour cream, parmesan cheese
one can of artichoke hearts- not the marinated ones chop up into small pieces
mix all together top with paprika and bake until bubbly

I serve with scoops chips
totally addictive!

BLT DIP.......................
Easy and no cooking.

Lets see if I remember this one.................

Layer of shredded lettuce
Layer of Mayo
Layer of Bacon Bits (real bacon bits from the jar is fine)
Layer of chopped tomatoes

Serve with Tostitos Scoops, it taste just like a BLT.

It has been so long since I made this (darn diets) so I am really not sure how I layered it. I may have mixed the tomatoes with the mayo and used as a bottom layer, then added a layer of the bacon bits then topped with shredded lettuce. :confused3

Take a brick of cream cheese cut in half (like two sticks of butter) and roll each stick in dry Italian dressing mix. Serve immediately with crackers. Do not use low fat or fat free cream cheese - it will get gooey with the dressing mix.

We've been doing appetizers for Christmas Eve since I was a kid!

Over the years some of the favorites have been shrimp and cocktail sauce, scallops wrapped in bacon, chips and salsa/guacamole.

Last year I made this dip that we had with crackers and sliced peppers - my kids could not eat it fast enough!

Hot Feta, Artichoke and Roasted Red Pepper Dip
1 (13 oz) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
1 (7 oz) jar roasted red peppers, drained and chopped
2 cups crumbled feta cheese
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 375. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl, spread in the bottom of a shallow baking dish. Bake till bubbling on top, 20-25 minutes.

Another one I loved as a kid was this:
Mix mayonnaise, diced onion and parmesan cheese
spread over party size pumpernickel bread
Broil till bubbly

Just adding a couple , block of cream cheese, with cocktail sauce with a cann of shrimp mixed in over the cheese serve with crackers!!
Sausage rolls, I make them with brown ans serve ! Roll out pie dough and put 2 or 3 links in a row cover with pie doughwrap around style moisten edges of dough to seal trim pie dough, cut each link in half thru the dough so 3 makes six , bake at 350 for about 30 mins they are delish. True English snack!!

Another Crock Pot Nacho cheese dip (I usually double). Very easy, very good. Usually our Super Bowl bring-along:

1 lb. Velveeta
1 small can diced chilis
1 can chili without beans
4 chopped green onions
