Appears to be Noro on the Wonder

yea I saw in the other cruise group a lady from the Wonder posted that people are vomitting all over the place (a kid apparently in the adult only section)... and people apparently not honoring the quarantine....

I overheard a woman at nearby table say the doctor wanted her DD on 24 hr quarantine, but she brought her to MDR. I hope she was truly just seasick, as the woman said.

The crew are all amazing despite passengers getting in the way.

But, but, but it's THEIR vacation! Seems like you can never under estimate just how self-centered and selfish people can be.

Going on the wonder in 18 days...this feed is very reassuring. I am a germ a phobe. It sounds like the staff is doing an amazing job and the ship will be very clean in between cruises. I do feel bad for the staff working so hard - I hope they don't get sick. I even have my own supply of surgical masks I can bring on board to wear :). I just can't wait to go on vacation!!!

The number of men that didn't wash their hands after using the toilet
And then there is women who put their purses on the bathroom floor.... then where do they place the purse while seating in the main dining room....

How many of use their phones while on the public throne? How many then clean their phones properly after using the throne?

Well, I hang my purse on the hook in the stall. And I just couldn't use a phone while on the toilet.:sad2:

Also going on the Wonder in 18 days. I will be eager to read any reports from the people boarding for the PC cruise. My whole family
caught Noro 2 or 3 years ago at Disney World. I had the worst case. I personally would rather go through childbirth than experience
that again.

I'm sure Disney is taking great precautions for hygiene. This thread just reminds me to bring my own wipes sanitizer also.

This was my biggest fear before our April Fantasy cruise. Luckily, all was good. But my sister, BIL and nephew are on the Wonder now! If it were me, I would think about getting off at Key West, and not getting back on. Can you even do that?

How bad even is this virus. Don't no a lot about it

Is it not just felling a bit sick for a day or so

I didn't know how to word this response.... but let's just say.... it's not fit to print.
But you're pretty wiped out. And you may see somebody threw up. Or maybe it's you or your family unexpectedly.

We just got off the ship and witnessed several cleaning crew in bio-hazard like suits headed on board.
I echo what everyone said, very diligent about anything communal, the crew members also stopped shaking peoples hands on Friday we noticed. Fist bumps all around, lol.
Our stateroom host was amazing and did a great job keeping our cabin extra clean, I had purell wipes I used a lot and we used the offered wipes before and after eating.
I feel a bit like a germaphobe now, but we didn't want to bring noro back to the kids.

We are home and still well despite seeing a few ill passengers in customs line (yep they tossed cookies in line). The ship is apparently being inspected and DCL highest on board for this.

I don't see how it could have been handled better. I'm thinking it's the first time it has happened like this on DCL.

We did have a wonderful cruise. Excellent actually, nothing was missed or changed except buffet service, no salt shakers on tables and cove treats.

I wish more than anything, they would give staff a good rest on the next sailing, by some sort of rotation schedule or something. They were all exhausted.

Just what I like to hear as I can't fall asleep because my flight leaves in less than 8 hours.

Hope your cruise goes/went well.

Two things that amazed me on my last cruise:

The number of men that didn't wash their hands after using the toilet

People refusing to take the wipes on the way into the restaurants. Even when the CM insisted, they argued for about 10 secs, the passenger took one and immediately threw it in the bin. Disgusting. I don't care if they get sick, but there's the likelihood of them making others sick that pi**es me off!

Then at least be nice about it and carry your own special wipes and wipe down in front of them. I'd question people being nasty about it too when there is absolutely zero reason to be.

As someone else said, the chemicals in some wipes and hand sanitizers can cause allergic reactions in some people, like me and DH. Also, hand sanitizer does not necessarily kill noro. Thorough hand washing is your best bet. I agree that there is no reason to be nasty about it, either by people who don't use them or by people who see others not using them. On one of our RCCL cruises, we kept getting dirty looks from the crew member at the MDR because we wouldn't use the hand sanitizer. It doesn't mean we are dirty people. It means we are of Northern European descent and have skin allergies. Back then, it was much harder to find alternative sanitizers without the harmful chemicals. I can find them now, but they are really a false sense of security.

Was there any truth to the rumors that it had been more concentrated in kids that had been in one of the clubs?
I'm going to have an altruistic view on this and say, little Bart didn't tell his mom he had a tummy ache because he was so excited to go the club. And the next day little Suzzie and little Tommy experienced the same excitement over a new day's events.
But the lady that took her sick kid out for "air" in the adult area.....

We were on the cruise directly before this one, and we've heard a few reports of people not feeling well the last day or going home, and there were quite a few incidents with the Mickey Pool involving something coming from one end of a child or the other. It would not surprise me in the least if this was the case, as between kids not being honest, and parents not believing that the kids are actually sick and not faking, it's got to be a super easy thing to spread in that age group.

Just got off the Dream Friday...another thing I would like to say is that people should NOT use their own used cup/water bottle to refill at the drink stations. Get a clean cup!! We saw this occur many times each day and no CM ever said anything to them. This is an easy way to spread infection! The Dream cruises usually have first-time cruisers on them (testing cruising out with short itineraries) so they may not realize.

Guilty of the 'my daughter is faking' thoughts. Sometimes they occur too frequently on school days or church days.
But I myself said "I was fine" the first time I went on a sailboat at age 42. I was euphoric in mind, but EVERYONE kept asking me if I was okay. People said I looked green, I felt ok-ish, now how's that possible? But they were right I was feeling a little weird, then a few waves later that little ickyness I felt made me want to sit down, then they decided we should head back for me. They didn't want me to throw up on their boat. That's when I decided to call our Dr about the patch for our first cruise later that year.

Absolutely! We brought our own large cups and always used their cups to fill ours, every single time. I suppose we're so used to places like McDonald's that let you refill the same cup, but it's even worse when it's one you brought from home, and have no way of properly cleaning between uses.

It's hard to tell with young ones if they're truly sick or just saying they feel sick. Sometimes they don't even know themselves I think, they're just unhappy and wanting out of a situation. And as adults, I think we often have our rose colored glasses on - I'm not really sick, this will pass, I can't be sick and miss this, etc. It's bad enough being sick, but being sick on vacation is just a whole different level, and I think it's human nature to want to deny that and try and enjoy something we have paid so much money for.

As Mandlz stated the cruise before there were a few incidences of the Mickey Pool being shut and all kids out of pool by order of lifeguard, don't really know why, just saw them shutting pools down. This last cruise it must have either started on the first night (super kid soup in both pools) or Castaway Day. We heard from a parent that went to medical just before dinner with their child that Medical was full of kids, so yes it was mostly the children. Hard to say if it was from pool or club, but since Med was full before MDR on Castaway Day I bet it was the kid soup pool. CC was almost deserted till noon at the first FB. FB at PP was a bit fuller by noon then full by say 1pm, so lots of people stayed on the boat that day. All hammocks were empty at first beach and a few at second sat empty. By the time Nassau day hit we heard it was around 80 kids sick and only some parents.

People really put their purse on the bathroom floor? Gross. There are hooks in the restrooms.
