Apparently I dislike FP+...alot

I am not trying to protect anyone from criticisms of Disney. I am trying to help them get more balanced and more factual information.

When have I EVER said that nobody is experiencing less with FP+? The important thing for "neophytes" to understand is that many of those people are guests who have visited WDW many times, have crossed several attractions of their to do list, and then used paper FPs to their advantage to ride the few attractions that they were interested in several times each. That is usually not what first time and infrequent visitors are looking to do. Many of them are much more interested in doing many different things once each.[/QUOTE]

I'm glad you are the self- appointed spokesperson for new and infrequent visitors to WDW. How have you reached your conclusions that infrequent and first time visitors want to experience many different things once each? Is this
perhaps another example of .......hyperbole?

Wow, a lot of discussion here about a lot of different things! It was interesting to read though.

I believe that all of this strengthens an argument that I make frequently. This will work for some people but not for others. Some people don't like to be scheduled and some people find it refreshing. I'm one of those who dislikes schedules and I doubt that I'll ever feel differently. I have no issues with those who like such planning though. Have at it! However, I'll pass.

Is that hyperbole? ;)

I just wanted to post to this thread from my JetBlue flight with wifi as I'm headed to ORLANDO.

Nana nana nana....

Not going to WDW, unfortunately - today's trip is strictly business. But I certainLy am getting some inquisitive looks from other passengers as I type this post to the DIS.

Maybe I'll ask how many are first timers headed to WDW and have made FP's for Figment. :)

I'm really starting to think that you don't even know what "hyperbole" means.

But, let's put that aside because it isn't important and we are straying away from the original points.

To get back to the point that started this, let me ask you a direct question. Do you think it is really true that FP+ only allows guests to do 3-4 attractions in a day? That is inconsistent with my experience but, since I haven't been to WDW since August, maybe things have changed significantly since then. If that is really true, maybe I don't want to go to WDW anymore either.

On one day in August, we went to DHS at opening and did TSMM, TOT, RNRC, and ST in less than an hour and a half and then went on to other things. But, we didn't use any FPs at DHS that day. Are you saying that, if we had used FP+ at DHS, we wouldn't have been allowed to do anything else? That would really stink.

It would be interesting to see how many blank looks you might get when you mention FP+. I bet that there is still a large group of people who just don't bother to plan. They might have Figment preselected. :)

I was in Disney oct 27 to oct 31 rode what I wanted when i wanted without fastpass+ because I think fastpass+ is a waste of time. Had a great vacation.

The days of power riding are mostly gone- good riddance- it gives everyone more of a chance to experience the attractions rather than just a savvy few. WDW is not an amusement park, it's an experience.

It didn't take a savvy person to utilize FP-, power rider or not! The person who couldn't or wouldn't use FP-, I don't think in many cases will utilize FP+.

Let me just say that I am absolutely convinced that D is tinkering with the number of Fp's they put out on a daily basis. There are just way too many contrary stories here for it to be otherwise. As an example...2 weeks after we get back people are having no trouble getting fp's at kiosks and when we were there they we scarce, yet there was no one in FP lines. I think the variable experiences are part of that. If Im right that will have an effect on your experience.

I think these un savvy people who didn't use FP- are also not using FP+ but they are being assigned the FP+s via MDE. So you may have a time when the FP+s are mostly taken but not really being used. I don't know if Disney tweaks the FPs, though they easily could, but I do think alot of FPs are being wasted. Probably more than were wasted with FP-.

I know we live in a time that everyone gets insurance, everbody gets a trophy and now everyone gets a fastpass! It's all a waste and un-needed.

With some people here on the Disboards making multiple negative FP+ post everyday 365 days a year you would think by now they would have created a huge groundswell that would in turn accomplish what they want. A full repeal and dismantling of the new FP system. Too bad all they have created was a tiny ripple which will do nothing for their cause. Oh well! Maybe next year. LOL!

I agree. You had to locate a machine (maybe the single hardest part), put your ticket in, get the paper, READ the paper, and return when the paper told you to. There were a host of guidebooks to tell you about it, not to mention countless websites, travel agents, friends ... If people weren't using FP-, either they didn't care to know about it or didn't care to use it.

Nah. They've sunk too much money in it to admit defeat just yet ... if at all ... #toobigtofail ;) I think they've been tweaking it since the "testing" phase (which wasn't really testing), and they're still tweaking it.

I don't know how big the customer opposition is. Judging from the unhappy customers here, it seems pretty big, but then, folks on the DIS probably aren't the average customer. Regardless, I don't recall anything else like this on the boards, but I haven't been here all that long.

You seem a little angry ... and I'm wondering where that's coming from.

I am not angry at all. I love my Disney vacations. I set realistic expectations so I don,t set up my vacations to fail. I still have a great time even when there are a few speed bumps in the trip. I don,t feel Disney stole anything from me. All is good my friend. All is good.

Well, me too. But part of having realistic expectations (for me) is reading others' experiences on these boards. Part of being able to navigate the speed bumps (for me) is hearing about others' speed bumps on these boards.

I think one of the reasons I had no trouble with MDE and picking FPs, is because I had read so much about it on these boards. I kept reading where people cancelled 2 of their FPs and couldn't add them back, so I wasn't about to make that mistake. One person's gripe can help out a host of other people.

You must be one of those un savvy guest who couldn't figure out how to use FP-.

Although I think some would like to see FP+ go away, I think most would simply like to see it improved. I would like it better if...

-you could get a 4th FP after you used your 1st.
-Preselect FPs in more than one park.
-Remove tier system.
-use your phone app to select/alter 4th, 5th etc FP. Not just at the Kiosk.

I don't expect FP to go away but do expect changes. If not this year maybe next!!!

I wasn't referring to how technically difficult legacy was.

Technical use of the system is only a portion of it. I'm referring how to technically and tactically use the system. People who didn't use FP- in many cases... didn't know about it, thought it cost, didn't investigate or figure out how to use it, or simply didn't see the benefit and chose not to use.

Oh yes the legacy system was real hard to figure out.
1. Get up one hour earlier than some guest
2. Run
That is quite difficult and I would say more than deserves the lions share of the Fastpasses

Wow, there sure is a lot of hyperbole around here! I think The DIS needs a new buzzword that is used in every post. My vote is for quagmire.

;)

Not that difficult!!

I get up early everyday already! Easy.

I never ever ran to FP. Also never bounced from one end of park to the other. Didn't need to, still rode all the rides I wanted. Easy!!

I don't mind change. I don't even hate FP+ but do dislike its structure. Hoping it will change.

Actually, I do know what Hyperbole means. But that's a great way to evade. You didn't answer the questions that I asked in the previous post: How do you know what first timers and infrequent visitors want to experience on their vacations? You said these people wanted many experiences and no repeats. Where did you get this information?

I never ran. I saw people running, but I couldn't figure out why. I went in January and October. Why were they running? :confused3

Actually, legacy FP simply required finding a machine, putting in your ticket, getting the paper that came out and returning within a printed time window. It didn't require rope drop or running.

Regardless, a previous poster seemed happy the candy was taken away from the "savvy" legacy FP users. That's where this "savvy" thing is coming from.
