Ok...I remember a couple years ago the apps for ride wait times were very popular. Doesn't seem to be a big deal any longer, I guess since FP+.

1) Do you still like those apps? (I'm considering getting 1 or 2 for or trip)

2) Are they obsolete? (I'd think not)

Thanks!

MDE tracks that? Guess I need to find that feature in the app!

I got the Touring Plans app- Touring Lines. Been peeking at it for our October trip-seems to work well.

1 never cared for them to start with because the update frequency was sporadic.
2 yes they are obsolete now because the official data is readily available on the MDE app.

Just click the Attractions tab. Pick your park at the bottom. It will show you the posted wait times at all attractions.
You can then click the little funnel icon at the bottom and click "Wait Time" to sort the list by wait times.

I used to use Touring Plans, but I noticed on this last trip, it would have wait time for lines that were not open. We had an afternoon/evening of nasty storms that lasted for hours, and it still showed current wait times for Test Track and other outdoor rides, and had it's usual Ride Now etc for those rides. The MDE app correctly showed all those rides as currently closed.

I like to look at the apps but in all actuality, they aren't very accurate. As a PPs said, they typically update sporadically and the posted waits are on MDE. And not to start a whole other discussion but really the only way to truly know a wait time is to stand in the line. ;) I've been in lines posted as 15 minutes that took closer to an hour and some posted as 60 minutes that took about 15-20. Standby lines are one of the only "spontaneous" things we do at WDW as I am the mega-planner/commando tourist (which is what works for us).

I guess bottom line, try a couple, compare to your personal experience the first day or so and use it the rest of the time if you find it worthwhile. Regardless -- ENJOY!!!

That worked! Thanks so much! :shamrock:

Oh yes, definately, I agree. I've been there, but it's always nice to have some "Disney interaction" while I'm sitting at home! :bored:

I actually just launched my own app for tracking wait times at Disney. I considered whether it was worth making another wait time app now that MDE is around, however I decided that there are enough improvements that I could make to ensure it's worthwhile.

First of all, the apps primary feature is wait time tracking, therefore getting to the wait times through my app is much faster than doing it in MDE (they load faster too). The other main reason was that the MDE app doesn't have an Apple Watch extension, which I felt was a very convenient extra. Other than that, the descriptions are more in depth, and I feel that the interface is a bit easier to get around. At the moment the app relies on user input, however I'm working on getting data directly from the parks.

I'll be creating versions for Anaheim and Paris (where there isn't currently an official app) very soon, and I have a lot of great updates planned. If anyone has any suggestions then they would be much appreciated!

Please give it a try: https://itunes.apple.com/app/id1021402097

Thanks!
