I'm sorry that so many people had friends that were banned I find it next to impossible to believe that 40 or so people were totally innocent and were banned for no reason Wasn't it only last week that I believe it was Alex said he would get back to those that wanted a explantion to what happend?? A week isn't very long give them some time. Even in the best of circumstances, now with Bob death it might take a little bit longer

More like a 100 and some people got banned for making jokes about stuff that were totally unrelated to that other site and never had been to the other site. Some of them might not even known when they added to a joke or added to lyrics of a song or asked about a dinner sidedish that this was bannable material.

I've seen this number thrown around several times and have to wonder how many of those "over 100" user names were people who were banned and came back deliberately intending to attack this board and the posters who disagreed with their assessment of the situation. When these users were banned again, many of them several times over, they just kept adding the new name to a list to inflate (and inflame) the situation. I can easily see 80 new names in the course of 10 days - all made with the intention of keeping the agenda front and center.

I suspect the real number is probably closer to 20, if that. Maybe we'll get an explanation about why those 20 were initially banned. Maybe we won't. But I have to agree with Robin: If you don't something, vote with your feet. It's the only way to get the owner's attention.

And you would be dead wrong thinking the number is closer to 20. All you have to do is look at the list to know that they were frequent Disers and not made up names. I havent been around that long, and I recognized way more than 20 names and many of the other names were friends of mine so thay are not made up. Yes sometimes the list is posted by a "one time" user name but that name is not added to list, these are original names with post counts included. High post counts and familiar faces, that is what is gone.

And a week could be plenty of time for the lawyers who this matter has been turned over to, to issue a statement. Isnt that what a client pays them to do?

I’ve tried to step back and gain a little perspective on this whole situation. Tried to see it through glasses that were untarnished by hurt feelings and the desire to make a stand for my friends here that have been treated unfairly.

For those of us that remain, I would like to have a definitive answer to exactly where the line is drawn in the sand, so to speak. Please don’t advise us to turn to the Dis guidelines, because reading those just confuses me more in light of the many banned posters who did nothing to violate those very guidelines.

So just what lies on the ‘other side’ of this board’s line in the sand? Is it mentioning the ‘place that cannot be mentioned’? Is it posting a comment like this one questioning the reasoning behind the mass banning of over 100 of our members? Is it simply posting on too many other questioning threads? Does the line change according to the moderator that’s reading a post? Is it being a member of any other internet message board? Can it be statements we make in a PM? Is this new line in the sand permanent or apt to change without notice at any time?

Sometimes you just have to make a stand for what’s right. What has happened here isn’t right. I don’t even care about where the fault lies.

We were told that an explanation will be forthcoming. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect just that to happen. I also think that if the possibility now exists that we may be banned for reasons other than those we agreed to we joined the Dis, then we are entitled to know exactly what those new guidelines are. I believe that most of us are reasonable people reacting to what appears to be erratic behavior on the part of TPTB. As reasonable people, we expect a reasonable response to our concerns. So far, that has not happened.

You have put my feelings on this whole situation into your post. Thanks so much. I have been so frustrated I can barely even put two sentences together.

So far I have just been voting with my feet and avoiding both places. I will continue to do so until there is some kind of explaination.

I thought this whole time we lived in a democracy. People choose everyday who to talk to and what to talk about in public places. I understand that this is a forum with rules and its something that everyone should follow, but where does freedom of speech fall into this? Did they say something that wasn't true, something that caused harm to other people, or was it just there honest opinion that had them removed? I am also a lurker who until the past few months frequented the site very rarely until I started reading a persons' trip report and the life that went along with his report. I am sure of only one thing, I will be posting a lot less and visiting the site a lot less, if there isn't either an answer or some type of resolution sometime shortly. That is if I don't get banned myself for speaking how I feel about a subject. Sorry for the rambling, but everyone needs to make up and bring back B*ZZ. Oops can I say that??

What about LoveMyGoofy? Where are you Tina? What about Boomer? I rarely agreed with his posts but I haven't seen him in ages. Where IS everyone? What about Bob Slydell? Isn't he a stay at home dad who was going to move or something? He also used to post all the time. What the heck happened in the last week. I was really busy and didn't post much or go on the community board apparently.

I do have to say that sometimes the Community Board is a rough place. Some of the posts are downright rude. I usually just skip over those and if someone really bugs me, I place them on my ignore list.

I "called you out" (= confronted you) on another thread, Carly Roach, but you didn't respond.

I don't understand how someone with such a low post count and being relatively new can be so consumed by what is going on and always have a rebuttal or explanation. I have been on eggshells all week long since it erupted.... and yet bam here you are. You are relatively new here and yet so very vocal.

These are all INDIVIDUAL people on the list. The new member names aren't anywhere on there. People who made this place fun, who have feelings, who are incredibly hurt.

I'm hitting "post" now before I can't stop myself from getting some personal attack points, even though I've never had any point at all before. .

Exactly! As you can tell by my join date, I haven't been here very long, but in the months that I have been here, I have met some great people who I enjoy(ed) talking to. Some of them I am still able to keep in contact with, but others - I don't know what happened to them. Even the people who I wasn't *close* to still had comments, ideas, questions, and opinions that were enjoyable to read and discuss. Now they're gone.

Up until a couple of weeks ago, I didn't feel like my day was complete until I at least checked in on the DIS to see if anything interesting was happening - serious or not-so-serious. Now, it's just so dull. There's too many colorful personalities missing (over 100, not just 20) to make this place the special place it used to be.

Unless things change, I have a feeling that my days here may be numbered - willingly or unwillingly.

I didn't know WebmasterBob,, but I do know a wife lost a husband, and a son lost a father. It is a bad time for all who knew him, but there was a situation last week. If we forget something, we are doomed to repeat it, and some of you who think you are so lucky to be here, could be next.

I'll try to answer about the specific folks you mentioned:

Ducklite- banned awhile ago. I think a cheerleading thread got heated and was her ultimate demise.

LoveMyGoofy- I believe Tina is still here

Boomhauer- banned last week during Banfest '08

Bob Slydell- also banned last week during Banfest '08 (while on vacation at WDW! )

I've been around along time. I don't post very often but I've lurked enough over the years to become a bonafide "Dis Historian"

..now I mean no disrepect by this but if you sincerely believe that then you need to remove your head from the sand...you're a fairly new poster (unless you're someone esle posting under another name) and there are many, many long time posters with 10 - 30 times or more posts than you have that were banned...for any of them to make a new name and post 2,000 - 10,000 posts in a week is absurd...look how long it took you to get 300 posts ...many good posters are gone by choice or not... and there will continue to be an air of defiance on these boards until we get the "official" word from the Dis...and even then it may be too late as many have already formed thier opinion...the delay in hearing the Dis is only hurting the Dis...IMHO

This is so hard-really good people are missing. They add so much to DIS. I just hope the admin will consider some sort of opportunity to work things out.

I agree totally, however, I do not agree that is the reason for what has gone on. Too many people who are no longer here did not engage in any inappropriate behaviors here or elsewhere.

I would like to believe that. However, I am a skeptic. TPTB have banned some people that I also thought were pretty nice people, until I saw their other side either here or elsewhere in regards to me and/or my partner. Until about 3 days ago, I had never seen the other place. I don't care to go back there again either. I can live without their negativity.
