When on the phone to WDW the other day, they enquired if we had filled out our API for our flights, however when I went to on the American Airlines site I can't find where to enter the details

Can anyone help? Do we need to do this, as we already have our ESTA's!

??

Yes you do API is separate to the ESTA - once logged in to your booking it should be an option (never used AA to know exactly where it is) :goodvibes

They may send you an " e " mail a week or so before you travel asking

you to insert your API into your booking.

I know Aer Lingus does this .

You have been given good advice by Elise 79 & chmurf

So follow it

You enter this online on American Airways' website. You need to log into your booking. Chances are you entered most of it when you booked your flights. You can update and amend this any time. Personally I put it in as soon as I book to paid forgetting. You don't need to wait for an email.

I looked for this on my VA booking but couldn't find anything? :confused3

It will be under "Manage My Booking".
You can do it at the airport but it takes like 30 seconds so you may as well do it in advance and save time on the day.

Done!

if I'm honest their website isn't the most user friendly, took me ages to sort on the website, but got there in the end!

Cheers guys

We are flying with United and you cannot actually enter API on their site.

If you do provide this information it blanks out. I called them and they were fine told me not to worry just said to me the only thing they need to know is where you are staying which they ask you at the airport?

Hoping this will all be fine - but having goggled the problem it appears it has been like this with United for several years.

This time next week - we'll be on the plane!!

Correct, its not something that has to be done online, it just makes life easier. It can be done at the airport.
Even when we have done it online I have been quizzed at check in to confirm I have entered the correct info.

If you do Online Check In, you'll be requested to enter the API info.

you may already have entered it unknowingly. For example, passport numbers are sometimes entered at time of booking and that's part of the API

no matter what, if your API is empty or incomplete when you get to the airport, you'll be requested to provide the information at the check in desk.

don't worry, they will ask for your API info at the airport if you haven't completed it.

Thanks for your replies - I was comforted to hear from folks on here that the API issue should be fine.
