Does anyone know what the APH discount was historically in October? I realize that it might not be the same this year, but just wondering. Do you APH holders out there think it would be worth it to get an AP if we were staying onsite for 3 nites, going to parks for 3-4 days and to HHN for one night? (2adults + 15 year old). Just trying to figure out $$$.
And would it be best to just get a room now with the 10% SMSM rate to assure ourselves a room and then hopefully apply and APH rate when available? There probably are not many rooms available with APH rate in October since HHN are so popular, right? The plan is for a weds-sat stay, (Oct 10-13), leaving Sat.
Thanks for any input. Getting very excited- never did HHN before!

Check out the date and rate threads. It will show you all the rates. Should give you a good idea of whether or not an AP is a good idea.

Just do a search on this forum and you should get them for the past few years.

in october, rates for wed and thur will be less than the friday rates.
right now you have 10% smsm discount.

do what damo stated and check out 2010 and 2011 date and rate thread.
you will see some of the aph rates for october.

then figure out what your savings will be for the hotel for 3 nights.
take into account how much you will spend for the preferred annual pass and the other 2 tickets for the rest of your party, you can buy for a discount with the ap.

if you have the aaa card, that also gives you the 10% discount in the park and cw for food and merch.

if you aren't going to use the ap anymore within the year, you should try to work the numbers to determine if this is advantageous for you financially.

i have aaa for $40 a year.
i also have the aph.

i usually go with the promo rate when i book.
if the ap rates drop drastically, i then switch my booking to the ap.

usually i get the better rate with the promo.
this year i get the 30% discount on the room.

when mid september rolls around, many of the rooms are booked for weekends due to hhn.
there will be some availability but not much.

last 2 years the ap rate dropped in mid/late september.
$129/39 at rph but they went fast.
when travel agencies release the blocks of rooms back to the hotel, the hotel will sell out those rooms at a low price so they do not go unused.
that usually happens a good 2 weeks out.

peeps that had booked with the ap to start off with, only had to call to modify their rate.

i book early in order to get the king suite.
my priority is room type, not price.

you could book now w/smsm.
when ap rates do come out, look it over and decide your plan of action.
