My current trip itinerary includes staying at the contemporary 12/24-12/26 followed by a stay at saratoga springs 1/1-1/6. Between that we'd be going to see relatives in Boca Raton. But I am looking to extend my disney trip as cheap as possible between those to trips. Unfortunately one of my party will only stay in deluxes, how much money would APs save us on a room rate.

IF you can get an AP rate for Christmas Eve (and that's a very BIG 'IF') you will get between $70-$80 off the rack rate of the room. To do that you must book AT LEAST 60 days in advance and you must pay a non-refundable deposit of one night's rate. There are no AP guaranteed rates available for Dec 26 - Jan 1. You can only book the Best Rate online at https://secure.disney.go.com/wdw/passholder/passholdersGate?s=o and you must have a valid AP or AP voucher in order to do the booking.

The rate for a reservation is the rate that is in effect for your first night. AKAMad was correct about the savings. However, you can still book by phone within the 60 day period; you just don't get the automatic price reduction that comes with the Best Rate program. Also, if you book by phone you don't have to have the voucher or poass on hand, but must be able to show it to the front desk within 24 hours of your check-in or the rate reverts to full rack.
