Hi everyone!

My husband and I are planning a trip to DL sometime this summer, probably June or August. We were thinking of buying annual passes for the resort discounts, plus we might make two trips within a year. Anyway, how big of a resort discount do AP holders get? Does Disney offer AP discounts in June and August?

Or would it be worth the wait to see what packages are offered?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Typically 10% off rack rate which isn't much. Occasionally they have deeply discounted rates, but the only rates that were discounted when we were looking were the preferred views which were still more expensive than the standard views. So, I wouldn't really get APs just for the hotel discounts.

However, if you think you will go twice during the year, I'd definately get the APs. We just did Deluxe APs and got a ton of use out of them. We were able to get 10% off dining which really adds up. We also got a discount on our Holiday tour. Having the AP is nice because if you get there late one day, you don't feel bad about spending money to get into the parks for just a couple hours since you've already paid for the AP.

Wow....guess I won't be running out to buy an AP! Thanks for the info...

I would recomend buying a park hopper for the first trip. That way you'll get early entry (one day), wont have to worry about black out dates, etc. Then, during your trip apply what you paid for the hopper to an ap.

Be sure you've used your early entry and are past any black out dates before you upgrade. You can upgrade on a black out date and still use your pass that day.

Once you've upgraded you'll get 10% most food, almost everything in downtown Disney, and 20% of tours. If you are considering two more trips you might want to get the premium pass, then you wont have to worry about black out dates and the $30 fee for those days. You would also get parking with that pass, and a higher discount on food and merchandise.
