Ap Watch Thread-it's Getting Close

What is the best place to check for the newly published AP rates? Will mousesavers have them posted immediately when they are announced? For example, if they are announced on Friday at 7 am will I be able to go to mousesavers at 7:01 and see the codes?

Otherwise, what is the best way to find out if there are AP rates for my time of stay? Should I just call and hound CRO?

What if you are going to the hotel to check in, THEN going to a park where you're going to buy your AP and stay at the park until closing. Can you just show up back at the hotel on the first day with the AP in hand or do I have to find some way to get the AP before I check in?

As I understand it, you have to have the actual, activated AP at the hotel and not a voucher to get the AP rate so I can't buy a voucher a few days before I leave and use that at check-in.

I had the voucher when I checked in, and they didn't even ask for it. Many people have posted that they have also checked in with the voucher, and simply showed the voucher or returned with the activated pass. I was too chicken to show up without the voucher, so DD and I drove to KC (100 miles!) to buy from the Disney store. But, others have posted that they have bought the activated pass at their first park, and just returned to the front desk with the pass later in the day. Some say it works, others say they weren't allowed to check in until they had the activated pass, it seems to depend on the cm. HTH!:wave2:

Edited to add: Supposedly, you can also purchase activated AP's at the Disney store at Orlando airport. Have not tried this.

Mary usually has the codes posted the morning they come out, she gets advance notice, and has her release ready to go. But, you can simply call, call, call, many people do!!;)

I have used AP rate for Trip in October 2003 at Poly and March 2004 at WL.. Both times CMs did not even ask to see my AP upon check-in nor was asked about it when I made the reservation.. I had it anyway, but find it incredible that theoretically people can book this rate and conceivably stay at a resort without having the pass..

Have also done the buy the Pass at Orlando Airport trick.. That took 45 minutes since nobody knew how to do it... Big mistake.. Best way I have found was to buy the pass at the Guest Relations desk at DTD...

Since we'll have a rental car, I suppose the safest thing for us to do is to go by Guest Relations at DTD and buy our APs before we go to the hotel to check in. A bit more trouble but I would hate to get turned away at the check in counter only to have to go to DTD to get them and come right back anyway.

The only time we ever used an AP discount (Oct 2001) I was not asked to show my AP voucher or activated AP at check-in. The CM never said anything so I asked her if she needed to see my AP voucher and she said no. I was pretty shocked because I was totally expecting to be asked to show proof that I was an AP holder. You'd think Disney would be more diligent about checking for the presence of an AP given the large discount granted.

Hi all:

Just thought I'd throw in my two cents. We've used AP discounts many times over the years and have been asked to show either the AP or voucher (and then a proper AP by that evening) every time. For anyone who's wondering, I wouldn't take the chance that you won't be asked - have one or the other with you when you check in.

Going on July 14 and watching close for those codes!

We've not usually not been asked either but I am always careful to have our APs with me.

Ok so you have to have an activated pass to get the rate. Can you get these at ANY DISNEY STORE?

My problem being, we arrive 8-2 at approximately 12:30AM, and Im sure we wont be able to get them activated that night before we check in at PC. However, there is a Disney STore in KC (about 75 miles from here) that I could go to ............but I want to make sure I know what Im talking about.

Also...........is the rate not good on all nights from the time they come out to whenever they expire? I thought I read a thread that implied they werent.

One more thing...........we booked our room through a TA, but it is not part of a pkg. Can I still get these rates? Can I do it or do I have to have the TA do it?

Any clarifications are greatly appreciated.

You could purchase them from disneyworld.com ahead of time to save the 75 mile trip but you will have to shell out the money when you purchase them. You will get the voucher in the mail and will have to activate it when you get to a park or DTD.

If the AP rate is sold out for one or more nights of your stay, you can make separate reservations for the nights that are available and separate reservations at normal or AAA or DIsney Visa etc. rates for the other nights. Then you can call back to see if more AP vacancies occur for the nights you didn't get AP rates the first time around. Not all travel agencies will keep trying for you.

I don't know if Disney does it but the technology exists for Disney to know that you possess an AP without anyone asking you.

When you receive the activated AP, that fact is recorded in the system. Alternatively if you used the AP that day or on a previous visit, such information can also be recorded.

I don't have proof but I did check in for an AP rate reservation after visiting a park using an AP and I was not asked to show the AP.

The information available at resort check in desks could be incomplete in which case some people may be asked to show their AP's and others not asked.

FYI - I just checked the WDW Annual Passholders section of www.disney.com (I have an AP so was able to do this) and the only AP discounts listed are those that are current and expire early July (sorry, I forgot exact date). So, nothing new yet. I thought that since it is after midnight on the east coast, new codes might be loaded in the system if Wednesday was going to be the day. Just a hunch but so far, nothing there.

you can call CRO/WDWTC and order your tickets and they will mail them out to you or hold them for will call. That's the best way, in my opinion.

what is the phone number to CRO? (This is who you call for AP Rates, right?)

Thanks!

When they become available, where can I find them immediately?????

If AP rates come out, they'll probably be posted on the boards right when they come out.

:)

I see that October is regular season this year. Has this changed from previous years?

Does anyone have any idea how far into the summer / fall this next AP Discount will go into? I see last year, there were no AP discounts in September... The AP only went through August and started back up in October... was October regular season or value season last year?

Any predictions?
