My DstepD is going to WDW with a friend for a week in August. She will also be going with us next year. Is it possible for me to order an AP for her with the DVC discount? or does she not qualify since she doesn't live with us permanently.

The discount is available to the member and all persons living in the same household. When you get the AP's, each person must show identification such as a driver's license.

If her driver's license shows your street address, then she is probably eligible. If it shows a different address, then definitely not.

Drat! She just passed her road test but when she does get it it will have her mother's address.

In my opinion, she is your daughter and should qualify for the discount. Her address is just technical at that point. She shares an address with you and her mom. I would definately fight on that one. She should be entitled to everything her father is entitled to.

How old is she? If she's under 18, I don't think she will be required to produce ID.

She just turned 18. Maybe I'll call today and see what can be done. Do I call member services?

If she is 18, she'll most likely be considered an adult and will not be eligible for the discount unless the license showed your address. But I agree, call MS and ask.

We are in the process of purchasing at BCV and already sent in our paperwork stating the owners names on the contract. I woke up in a panic thinking my children wouldn't be eligible for the annual pass discount since their names weren't on the contract. Then I realized most people DON"T put their childrens names on the contract so......was hoping they would get the discount if I added them as "associate members" (do you think I'm excited about joining? LOL) Anyway........................thanks for answering my question, I'll now be able to rest at night.

They only need to be living at your address to get the discount. Associate members do not get the discount unless they live at the owner's address and are a family member (see the list of included family members on the DVC website).

Thanks DebbieB. Even though the 2 older DS and DD are 21 and 22, they still live at home. By the way, we are in Pa too, central Pa that is. Are you close by?

I agree.

I'm making my 11mo reservation at SSR next week and I will ask then. Thank you for all of the responses.

I asked a very similar question of MS and my guide last year. I was told that if you don't live in the same house then no you don't get the discount. Even associate members do not get the discount if not immediate family living at the same address. However, I was able to get an AP at the DVC rate with a different address and different last name, just walked up to the window and purchased it, no questions asked. My guide told me flat out that technically I should not get the discount but to try it and see what happened. It worked for me but I wouldn't bank on it going through every time.

So just to clarify.....
My 18 ds will have to show his drivers license......but my dd's 13 & 15 will not have to show proof of anything ? Just want to be prepared. Thanks.

Update:

I couldn't wait and called Member Services. My DstepD is eligible for the discounted Annual Pass. They said technically she is a member of our household even if she doesn't live with us full-time. She just needs to bring a picture ID.

Good, I'm glad for you. And it is always better to know for sure than to keep wonderiing.

To the OP ~
So glad you were able to get the discount for you dsd. Thanks for updating us :cool1:

During our trip in June, I renewed my AP at guest services at AK. I also bought a new one for my DD25. She was asked her full name (differant last name from me, btw) .. but that was it. No IDs were asked for .. not for either of us .. nor did they want to see my DVC card.

:) shows YMMV

My DD is 29, and they didn't ask her for her ID, either. They just gave her the discount, and said "you live with your parents, right?" She nodded, and that was it. Now, my address is still her permanent address, but she lives in another state, and has for 5 years! :)
