Booked to stay five nights starting 2/29 at Cabana Bay. 2 adults and 2 older kids (11,13). Booked using the Annual Pass rate, so will definitely buy 1 pass. What is the best option for the other 3 tickets? Not renting a car, so planning on staying and visiting parks for four days.

Undercover Tourist has a 4 day park to park ticket for less than an adult AP. If you are able to get an extra 1/2 day or more in, it may be better to just get everyone an AP as long as you can get the power pass (no block out dates for your trip) as it's not that much more than a 4 day ticket.

Would it be cheaper to wait unit we get to Universal and buy the tickets with the AP discount?

You'd have to do the math. Remember that the AP discount is off gate price (which is $20 higher than the online price for multi-day tickets).

Is there any chance you're going to come back within the next year? If so, then the AP makes more sense. If you're not sure, then I wouldn't buy the AP figuring you can always upgrade when in the parks.

We did UT buy 2 get the 3rd day free option for our nephews. (The rest of us have AP's). Be careful if you go that route to buy the right ones as UT had two options - one that had to be used by a certain date and one that did not for $5 more. I'm not sure if 3 days will be enough there though so our plan is to possibly upgrade our nephews tickets to 4 days while there. From what I've read here, it sounds like we'll just be charged the difference between a 3 and 4 day ticket to do that - saving more money than if we had bought 4 day tickets to start. (We know our nephews will not come back in the same year so there's no point in doing an AP. The AP discount for tickets was not cheaper - plus, I worried about a price increase between now and then so I bought their tickets far before our next trip).
