AP Voucher & My Disney Experience

I purchased AP Vouchers from a local Disney Store in anticipation of our trip in May. I just made room a room only reservation and was told to go on My Disney Experience.com and link my APs to our reservation; however, because I only have a voucher and not an actual ticket, I don't have a ticket 12-digit ticket number. Does this mean we won't be able to book our fastpasses prior to actually arriving at Disney and having our vouchers activated so we have actual tickets? :confused3 I sure hope not! If so, I made a mistake by purchasing AP vouchers rather than tickets and then having the tickets upgraded once we arrive. :worried:

I renewed our AP last month and was able to link the voucher numbers to my MDE without a problem.

Something like the following:

Log in to MDE

> from MyDisneyExperience (tab) choose My Reservations and Tickets
> click Link Tickets
> highlight the closest ticket/media type, this should open the correct text field
enter your will call number into this field

I don't see a string of 12 numbers on mine. Were yours all numbers?

Last time I purchased our AP's online, the confirmation number was 4 letters followed by 8 numbers. Example: ABCD12345678. Hope this helps.

This was my experience as well. All of ours (I renewed 5 in total) had 4 letters followed by 8 numbers.

I'm so upset. I just "chatted" online with a Disney rep and can't link my purchased AP Exchange Certificates that I purchased at a local Disney store until I present at a Disney park/Downtown Disney and have my actual AP tickets. Had I known that, I would have purchased a 7 day ticket and upgraded it to an AP once I was at Disney. Now I can't prebook my Fastpasses until we get to Disney. I wonder how hard it will be to get the good fastpasses (TSM, RR, SM, Soarin, etc) the same day or a day or two in advance??:sad2:

Have you tried calling the IT department? I would do that before giving up hope.

Not true at all- I bought mine at our local store and was able to link them and book fp's.

It some point people were getting appropriate numbers by calling ticketing and presenting receipt info. I wouldn't take the first "No" answer.

This is rotten! Why on earth are Disney Stores selling media that cannot be linked immediately? Why can't they get their act together?

It can be, I did it. I can't recall now what numbers were required, but a call to IT will fix it for the op.

It can be done & as quoted a call to IT will help. I purchased vouchers in June at AAA & was able to put in MDE & made all my FPs at my 60 day mark for Mondays trip.

I get that it can be solved. Why don't you get the numbers, at point of sale, in a Disney Store?

The system is very easy after 90 minutes on the phone.

Hey Disney, Stop messing with the customer by omission. If you sell a ticket or AP point out, to the customer, the number you will need in MDE. Hello.

Yeah!!!! I talked to someone in IT and they said what I bought from a Disney Store was very old (from 2005). They were able to go into my account and link the AP Certificate vouchers to my account. :cool1: I agree with previous poster...why are they seeling these almost 14 year old AP certificates? I was told at the stores they don't sell them very often and they need to use up their stock. REALLY????

I didn't have to call IT, it was easy for me to link- I was suggesting the OP call because she was having issues.

I agree- it really wouldn't cost much to just toss the old cards and get new ones in that work. All issues that get solved with time I suppose, but still irritating to the customer.

That is nuts.

I just bought my AP online, using MDE, and everything linked automatically. I originally wanted to buy from our local Disney Store, but when I called, they said they didn't sell APs, only regular tickets.

I misunderstood your post.I thought you had needed to call support.

The, "I don't get why you are having problems; it was easy for me." Doesn't sit well with me. It's fairly obvious Disney doesn't present a uniform face. So now somewhere we need to register the following:

Don't buy ticket media from Disney Stores or you will need to call for help.

I didn't say I didn't get why she was having problems. She was having a problem I didn't experience. I had no idea what the problem was or how to fix it so I suggested IT. My point was for her not to believe the CM who told her she couldn't link when I knew she could.

You're putting a lot of inflection on what I posted in order to get to it not setting well. Had I just posted- "Gee, it worked for me", you might have a point.

There are people who bought from online, outside sources or in store and still had to call IT while others breezed through with no issues at all. My daughter had problems with her ticket and she bought online. The other daughter bought online and didn't have a problem. I bought in store and didn't have a problem. So I don't think the blanket statement of "don't buy from Disney Stores or you'll have to call IT" really helps a lot. In that case, the advice would be, don't buy at all or you'll have to call.
