When I check into a Disney resort and I am receiving a AP room discount, do I need to present the actual AP or is the voucher sufficient?

I'm hoping to avoid a trip to Guest Relations BEFORE checking in.

Thank you,

Neil

I believe you'll need to present the AP, but you won't need to go to guest relations first thing. They give you, I believe, 24 hours to present them with your AP after checking in and that's in account because of those who haven't had the chance to exchange a voucher for an AP.

Don't worry about it. They don't always even ask and when they do ask, you can show the voucher and have until the next day to drop by and show them the activated AP. I'm not even sure that you will need to do that anymore, now that they can see your activated AP on your MDE account.

In my experience from February 2016 is that they didn't care. I checked into my hotel before going to the parks (thinking that I would want to have a nap first, HA!) and had no troubles.

what is this AP thing i keep reading about? I also read something about visa discounts and buy gift cards at costco to save like 5% what are the details on this and how does it work? A newbie trying to figure out everything on here still.

AP is an annual pass. In theory there are resort discounts for passholders (not always availability...), shopping discounts, and some dining discounts as well as free parking and probably some other perks I'm forgetting. I'm not entirely sure how the gift cards work, but I believe if you by a bunch of Disney gift cards from certain retailers, you'll save a small amount (saving anything helps at Disney!) over what you would pay if you bought the gift cards from another retailer.
