If, on the last day of our trip, we upgrade our tickets (5 day hoppers) to annual passes, are they good for 365 days from upgrade or 365 days from when we used the hopper ticket? I'm thinking its the second, but wanted to be sure.

365 days from the first use of the MYW ticket. No "free days".

thats what i thought, just wanted to be sure. thanks!

Just out of curiosity...what if you had a non-expiring ticket? and used it over 2 visits...is it not able to be upgradedx

No, it's like you had an AP from the start.

All MYW tickets, even those with the no expire feature can only be upgraded within 14 days of first use. No expire just means you can use the ticket a month-a year-many years later, but you can't upgrade it after the end of the 14th day from first use.

If you're thinking of upgrading to an AP you can do it after using it once to enter a major park. You'll then be able to take advantage of the AP merchandise discount or purchase the TiW card.
