We initially decided to buy SoCal City pass from Costco. Now, upon further reflection and realization that we would like to go back to DL sooner rather than later, we are considering buying AP's. However, DH and kids are also excited about Sea World, the Zoo and USH (cuz I already opened my big mouth ). Hubby suggested we keep city passes and then try to upgrade DLR portion to AP's. I was skeptical given that the passes included more than just Disney. What the heck, I called disney guest services. Hurray, the lady on the phone put me on hold and "went to check". Yes, she said we can upgrade, but she couldn't tell me what the cost would be until they scanned the vouch/ticket for the disney portion of the city pass and determined the monetary value of that to be applied toward AP. So, finally, my question. Has anyone out there (collective DIS boards) ever done this? Do you recall what the monetary value the DL portion of the city pass was? I just want to mentally (and financially) prepare myself for the upgrade cost. And to be honest, to make sure that indeed this is doable. While I am glad the guest services lady said it was, I am alway a bit worried until the actual transaction or until someone out there can calm my fears with their previous experiences. THANKS in advance for any and all assistance.

Yes, this can be done. When you get into Disneyland Park, go to the entrance tunnel on the right. The "Bank of Main Street" (next to the Disneyland Opera House), is now the AP processing center. There they can upgrade your tickets. They really do need to scan your ticket to tell how much you paid for the Disneyland portion of your City Pass. They will apply this amount to your annual pass.

If you have to stand in line at the ticket windows to turn in a City Pass voucher for a Disney ticket, you could also ask the ticket agent and they could tell you how much you 'paid' for the Disneyland ticket.

Thank you Califgirl!
Have you done this before? The reason I ask is if so, do you recall what they "valued" you DL portion of the city pass at? It seems the cost of the pass is pretty much standard where ever it is purchase with the exception of the Costco discount.
Thanks for the reassurance, I feel better already :yay:

Price of a regular 3 day pass? Wow, I hope so. :cool1:

Either way, we have decided to go for it. We will keep our San Diego/Disneyland plans for this summer and then upgrade to AP's. I am already looking at the school calendar for next year and planning our next visits. So far, looks like we can swing end of October (long weekend), beginning of January (4 days?), end of March (4 again?) and maybe even next summer before passes expire (4-5 days). Have I gone round the bend, are 5 DL trips in one year too much? Uh oh, guilt is setting in ...... darn that voice of reason :furious: . Try to rationalize, hmmm.... Hubby is in sales and his territory includes SoCal. So, instead of eating away at his vacation time, he can work a day or two, while the kids and I go to DL then meet up with him for evening times. Ok, that is a start, I'll have to keep working on it. Gosh, I am getting so excited :Pinkbounc

I did this exact thing last summer. The value of the parkhopper is the same as the advance purchase price, which is currently $149. That is the amount of credit you will get toward your AP.

Thank you all for your answers. I am getting more jazzed about the AP by the minute. .....Now to justify all those extra mini vacations ...... Be gone ye guilt, thars fun to be had! pirate:
