AP Summer Passholder rate question

Our APs expire on July 11th, so we were going to do 3 non-park days. I am currently on the AP website, and can book Caribbean Beach - Pirate Room for July 12-14.

I just realized thought that my AP expires the night before we check in on July 11th - what then? I have an active AP now, so it's letting me book the summer AP deal, so is this just a computer glitch? Will I be required to show my AP upon check in? We've never book an AP rate before.

I don't want to have a problem when I check in, and I don't want to cheat the system - what should I do? I just realized this a minute ago, but we already made changes to our DVC stay...

Thanks, Tiger

My understanding is they do let anyone book with the AP rate. You are then required to show a valid AP at check in.

I am thinking that your rate will be adjusted when you get there if you the pass is already expired.

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure as I had to sign in to the AP site with my AP number. So, it seems like you can only book with a valid AP, but you must be right that the computer doesn't catch the expiry dates of the AP.

Oh dear, this is not good. I can book with the general public discount, but it's over $70.00 more for the 2 nights, and that's not worth it.

Oh boy...Thanks, Tiger

I have never been asked to show my annual pass at check in so they might not even notice. Maybe it works like other discounts - if you have the rate at the beginning of the stay maybe it carries over for the whole trip...like free dining. :goodvibes

I'm sure that's the way it would work, if we were checking in on July 11th, but we want to check in on July 12th. Our APs expire at midnight on July 11th.

We are going to waitlist for a DVC studio (we had it, but gave it up today to book Pirate room), and then book a moderate room on general public summer room rate. It's about the same price as the AP Pirate room. This way, if waitlist comes through up to 7 days before, we'll cancel the cash room.

We were looking forward to the Pirate room for our son's 3rd birthday - maybe another time! Thanks, Tiger :)

Unless things have changed, you can book an AP rate over the phone without actually having an AP at the time you make your reservation. You might want to consider renewing your APs, because you will get a 3-month extension of the expiration date.

I am able to book the rate now as my AP is valid. The problem is that our APs expire midnight of July 11th, and we would have checked in on July 12th. So, our APs would not be valid upon check in. No problem now as we were able to get a room at AKV - Kidani, so we are all set!

We wouldn't renew our APs this year - we will renew next summer as we do 2 trips on 1 AP, and we won't be back until summer of 2011.

Thanks, Tiger :)

I also have never been asked to see my AP or my AAA card. It doesn't mean you won't have to but...Plus to book online you have to be signed into the AP website, which you can only do with a valid AP. I would probably do it & hope for the best. Just me personally.
