AP room only question

I plan on getting an AP since I'll be going to the world several times (April for a few days, and Dec for a few days and I'm planning a solo trip for Aug for 7-8days) so the AP is in my best interest... I had a AP in the past several years ago before the dining plan and I know lots of people like the Tables in Wonderland and so why not get that instead but for me its the convenience of having my meals paid for before I go down so its less money that I have to stress about saving to bring with me.. I've never had any major issues with the dining plan so with that said if I get a room only can I get the dining plan? or do I like during the free dining promo have to get a 1 day ticket?

And also what is generally the discount % off for rooms in August my plans are to stay at the Pop which currently has the 25% off I was just wondering if the AP discount is larger

Thanks so much
Jill

Technically, it's a package, but yes, you can add the dining plan to a ticketless package if you're an AP holder. If you're using a PIN or a public code that has a ticket requirement, though, you'll have to get whatever tickets are required even if you hold an AP. So, for example, if you wanted free dining, you'd have to buy the 2 day ticket anyway.

ok so when I book a room only using a AP code I can add dining. I figured that if its a package code you would have to book the package..

I know for DVC members (unless this has changed since this past aug.) you can pay for the dining plan when you check into the resort is it the same for AP? Or when I call to book my room do I have to pay for the dining plan at the same time? And/Or can I call later and add the dining plan to my room resort?

You are booking the package, but you don't need to buy tickets. All the package rules apply (cancellation, deposit, etc.). It's only the ticket requirement that's different. In effect it's a room-only with dining, but it is a package.

This has apparently changed. You need to pay for the DP when you add it. On a non-DVC reservation, you can add the DP up to 3 days before you arrive. I'm not sure if it's still available to DVC members at check in.
