Is it all possible, I want to get an AP because we are planning to go a few times in the next year. We are looking to rent points for a DVC room, and I would love to purchase the dining package, anyone know anything about this? :confused3

It's possible.

You don't have to order tickets with the dining plan if you're staying in a DVC resort.

I believe you pay for the dining once you check in, not in advance.

If they can get rid of the ticket requirement for DVC, why can't/won't they do it for AP holders?? :confused3

It's absolutely possible! I'm doing this exact thing this summer for part of our trip. We are renting DVC points, I have an AP and I have added the dining plan on to the reservation. The total for the dining plan is due at check in. I have the DDE for the other part of our trip. We got the DDE last year, so we have already recouped our money and then some.

You may want to run some numbers and compare the DDE to the DP. A lot of DVCers think the AP/DDE combo is a much better deal (and if you tend to have a glass of wine or two with dinner, or something stronger, its really easy to make it a better deal). But everyone's situation is different, so you'll want to look over some menus and figure out what would be typical for you.

I have a notice I got from DVC today.

You do pay for the dining when you check in, but you must RESERVE it before you arrive. You won't be able to buy it at checkin unless you have it on your reservation.

As far as DVC to AP getting the dining plan. Most DVc members have the AP. WE also have a lot more invested id Disney then someone with the AP only.

I don't have any numbers but I seriously doubt that most DVCers have APs. I'm basing that on the questions asked on the DVC boards this past year. I imagine quite a few more bought this past year due to the very nice discount DVCers now enjoy on an AP. But I still doubt it is "most." If it was, I don't think the great discount would have even been offered.

In addition, I think families who buy APs for everyone and have for many years probaly have bought quite a few bricks at WDW whether they have joined DVC or not. We've only been buying APs since sometime in the 90s but I know a family who has been buying them since sometime in the 80s at least. They go on multiple trips/year and have for all these years. And they still have not bought DVC and don't plan to do so.
