Hello, I will be renewing my annual pass this upcoming Oct. I was wondering if you get a discount for renewing your pass? Also should I do it online or just go there in person? Thanks again. .pirate:

I was wondering if you get a discount, and if they will allow you to renew early. Mine doesn't expire until Jan 3, but I wanted to take advantage of the Costco deal that expires in Oct. Does anyone know if they will allow this?

Good Question. Ours expires in Oct. and I want to renew.

I just found out from Disney the other day that they don't allow AP renewals any earlier than 40 days before the expiration date (mine also expires in October, and I thought I could try to renew next week when I go to get my Fun Card, but no luck). And if I am not mistaken, I THINK if you renew at least 30 days in advance, you get some sort of $20 discount. I could be wrong on that, but I think I have heard of a small discount for renewing a month early.

Cool thanks.. Also do they reuse the same picture or would you have to take another? Thanks again.

For you, since you got your AP last October and took a photo, they will just use the same one over again. You don't even have to go to the AP center at the Plaza Pavilion (which is replacing the Bank as the AP center for now) at all to renew. They can do it all at the ticket booths. Now if you want a new photo taken, you have to pay something but not sure how much.

Costco will most likely keep the same AP deal running past Oct. Every 5 months or so they come out with new vouchers. When I bought mine earlier in the year they were good through the end of May. Starting in June the vouchers are good through Oct. Odds are after Oct. Costco will have new vouchers good through the remainder of the year but thats just my guess based on past years.

It may be a bad idea to renew earlier if there will be more than one month or so between your AP expiration date and the date of your next visit. Renewels begin on the day after your AP's expiration. If instead you renew on your next visit after expiration you will have a new expiration date 1 year from then. The extra month or more would be worth more than the $20 early renewel savings.

You do get $20 off when you renew, but I'd wait for the Costco deal. It's much better than just $20 off. Of course that hinges on them renewing that Costco deal....
They will just reuse your photo Eric, Micah and I had a 5 month gap between our old and new APs, the girls had 6 months. We did get new photos done because we upgraded the Deluxe Costco APs to Premiums so our CM asked if we wanted new photos so we did it, otherwise we would have the ones from July 07 on our APs.

Even if they did, there would be no point. You'd be giving up all those months of the AP, because they'd probably just start your new AP when you used the Costco pass.

Shyboy, if you renew by mail/online (well, online just means download the form from the AP pages on disneyland.com and mail it in), you can choose a design for your new card. If you go that route, allow them the time to send you the new one; there's a post on mouseplanet right now where they ended up going in in the limbo-time of their old one being deactivated but before they got their new one, and they encountered difficulties. So be sure you have time to receive the new one.

If you renew while there, you do get the discount, but you don't get your choice of design. However, you have it in hand. :)

While on the AP pages, if you click to see all of the Offers Inside The Parks, you can see that if you want to renew and *upgrade* for the next year while there...

"if your Annual Passport expires in 30 days or less, you can renew and upgrade your Annual Passport at the same time and immediately begin enjoying the benefits of your upgraded Annual Passport — both for the remainder of your current Annual Passport and for one full-year following the expiration date on your current Annual Passport."

I like that one. :)

I agree with that guess. I'd also guess that Disney will raise their prices around Aug/Sept, and that they'll renew the Costco deal at the new price, sometime after that price is announced.

We've done that one to upgrade my husband's AP - it was very cool that he was able to use the new AP immediately, and we avoided buying a couple of blockout day tickets!

You can renew and pay for your AP on-line - you don't have to print the form and mail it to Disney if you're using a credit card to pay.
