AP Renewal Question

Our AP's are set to expire next month, so we got the little reminder in the mail offering 15% savings when we renew early. But the wording on the website is confusing, so I'm hoping someone here can help clear it up.

From what it says on the website, it sounds like in to actually get the savings, we have to let our passes expire first? How is that saving by renewing early? We don't want to let them expire.

And the monthly payment is lower when you just buy a new one than it is when you renew?

You get the 15% savings deal when you renew early which means only when you renew BEFORE your pass expires. Therefore, don't let them officially expire if you want the savings deal.

Sorry, but that's not true.

You can renew from up to 60 days prior to your anniversary date,
to up to 30 days AFTER your anniversary date and still get the "renewal discount."

The monthly payment is based on the cost of the AP, minus the "down payment."

I recently just received in the mail the deal. To save 15% AND receive an extra month on my annual pass, I must renew my annual pass before the official expiration date/the first day I used it. This was for WDW not DL, if that's the issue.

AP renewals (at the renewal discount price) are offered up to 30 days after the anniversary date.
If that were not true, what would be the reason for offering to "renew" an AP after the anniversary date?

If there was no "renewal discount," there would be no incentive to renew...
but, simply just wait and buy a fully new AP at such time as the guest needed one.

The bolded text above is the reason you need to renew before the expiration date - they extended the offer of the extra month but only for renewals. You will still get the 15% discount if you renew within 30 days of the expiration date but you will not get the extra month.

This is also not true.

Anyone eligible to renew an annual pass - which means they're within the 60 days before, 30 days after window - will get the renewal discount and the 13th month (until that promotion ends, anyway).

I have no idea why Disney's wording on their mailings is the way it is, but a renewal is a renewal is a renewal, as long as it's done within the entirety of the eligible time.

Oops - had that one wrong. Thanks for correcting me.

You'd think Disney could afford to have folks write their materials in a more clear and concise manner.

I can confirm there is no doubt whatsover that Ravenclawtrekkie and Robo are correct (as they always are)
I have renewed my AP after it's expiration date, but within the legal renewal window, and gotten the renewal discount AND the extra month during the current promotion.
