AP renewal - gold card

Going to Disney in a few weeks and my pass would have expired mid-trip, so I just renewed my annual pass online. When you order AP Magic Bands, in addition to the band, I received an AP slider and a gold card for discounts. Is the gold card I currently have still valid with the renewal or do I need to order my new Magic Band to get a valid gold card? We are staying offsite and I need the active gold card for free parking and discounts. I was wanting to hold off ordering my new band until Jan so I can hopefully get a 2016 Magic Band slider. The gold discount card expires when your current AP expires. However, you can just show the CM your AP to receive the discount if you want to hold off ordering your new MB until January.
