AP rates

When AP rates come out, are they for specific resorts? If so, are there resorts that receive the discounted rooms more often? I want to book a deluxe and I was wondering which deluxe resorts are more likely to have AP rates for January?

Thanks

Typically AP rates are offered for all the resort categories, but some things sell out much more quickly than others. For instance, if you are hoping to get the cheapest possible Deluxe, like a standard view room at AKL or WL, you'd probably want to book as soon as the AP rates come out.

Well I was thinking of booking now or soon to ensure the room, and then apply the rate when it comes out. That's why I'm nervous about a resort being excluded. I don't want to book the "wrong" resort. I'm thinking the Boardwalk, Contemporary, or Poly.

What dates are you planning to go?

I'd say it's a safe bet that there will be some AP rate for all the resorts, but some resorts have better discounts than others.

It may not be the "wrong" resort, since all resorts are included. However, there are only a few rooms in each resort, in each room category, that will be available for any particular discount, including AP. You may have to change your category or resort anyway to take advantage of the discount.

I'm planning Jan 7 - Jan 12. We're going down for the marathon, so we figured we'd treat ourselves by going deluxe.

IMO, I'd go ahead and book what you want, and the SAME day the AP rates come out for your time frame, call to apply the discount. Hopefully they will still have the exact room type you want available at the discounted rate.

The two biggest resorts that get discounted are WL/AKL, as has been mentioned. Right now I have an AP rate for AKL @ $139.00 per night. Last week I had WL for $139.00 per night and got free upgrade to Club Level.:cool1: The resorts that have very little to no discounts are Poly and GF. I can get discounts on CL but I have to book as soon as the rate comes out. Generally, as I'm getting within a week or two of my trip I will start to see space opening up as room-only's begin to cancel and/or you can see these at 44 days out when the package crowd starts to cancel/change their ressies. Always check for availability after (not at) 7am ET 44 days out or closer.

I went two weeks ago at the beginning of FD, unfortunately, but I was still able to change resorts due to late cancelations. So it is possible. You just have to be persistent.

Do what islandchick779 said and book as soon as possible. I get my hotel a year in advance and then apply codes as they are released. If no codes come out, then at least i'm PIF by the time my trip comes. I love putting my vacation on layaway. LOL

Wow, that is so amazing. I swear I must be the only one paying rack rates, and never upgraded. I am so envious you got WL @139 and upgraded to Club Level. I would SO LOVE that.
