AP rates - why are they so darn difficult?

We have APs for ourselves and our friends - paid in full for FOUR adults and FOUR KIDS!

So whyyyy are we not going to get notification of AP holder rates?
This kind of ticks me off, considering how much I paid for the darn things.

I feel like we'll only get a minimal chance of catching the "code" at the right time to change our ressies. :(

Any tips/ideas for getting the info?
We are staying over Thanksgiving - and I'm told they usually come out around August. If we don't get them, I might not stay onsite for that rate - they will be checking us in on the "regular" season and it will put us in a REALLY high price bracket, considering it's a value resort, for the whole (10 day) stay.

Thanks for any help!

You really don't get notification of AP rates. You can check the disneyworld website, enter your ap number to get into the ap section and the rates will be listed there.

Your chance of getting a mickey monitor stating what the rate special are is slim to none..they are really hit and miss. Disney can't even get the email mickey monitor system running correctly.

Just keep checking these boards and calling. Remember, with and AP, you are not guaranteed a special room rate. It is a perk if available, but no guarantees.

There really are no tips that I can offer other than to keep a watch on these boards for any news. When codes are announced, they will be all over these boards and you'll see lots of postings regarding "What was your rate?"

I don't think that the AP rates are so very rare that they are impossible to get. I've gotten AP discounts long after they were announced for my dates. Given that you're going during a holiday, the demand for discounted rooms will be higher, so it will be important to make that call early. It also helps to be flexible with your dates and resorts.

Finally, if your stay is going to span the regular-to-value seasons, you will end up with a better price if you split the ressie into two. If you check out on 11/27 and check back in, the remainder of your stay will be at the value rate. Most times, you will not even have to change rooms.

Wow - thanks for the tip. I never even considered the "checkout" and "check back in" method. I bet they'd rather keep us in our room anyway, too. :)

I will keep checking the boards and mousesavers, etc.
Hopefully I won't miss them when they come out. It would be a TREMENDOUS help to our vacation budget.

(As for the first reply, I would love to try that - and did attempt it - but they don't give you an AP number until your pass is validated...so I can't do it until we turn in our vouchers, which will be check-in day) :( Dummies. I don't know why we're not "legitimate" until then. :P PBBT!

You're not legitimate until then because you haven't activated your pass yet, you silly! Can you imagine all those people that would feel 'entitled' to hearing about AP special perks/room rates and they only held vouchers? You can buy a voucher and not use it for years! So, Disney's database is going to be really immense with a lot of useless data about people that only have vouchers. And if you only have a voucher, you can't use it for anything yet, so why would you worry about not getting any notices of AP rates?

What some people do is to say they have an AP when they book their room. Then if they have gotten a good rate, they go out and buy the AP before they get to WDW. Don't panic. Those terrific rates aren't going to disappear in 15 minutes after coming out. Keep watching these boards and Mousesavers.com. You'll know as soon as just about everyone else.
