How do you book your nights? Do you call? Do you do it from the AP site? How do you get the best price??

I am REALLY trying to talk DH into taking me for my bday - just me n him - but I wanna fly - and stay onsite! LOL!!

I looked on the AP portion of the website and the prices are still VERY high!! Is that the best rate????

I'm pretty sure the AP rate is just 10%, which isn't fabulous, but it's something. I'm pretty sure no matter what you do, it's going to be more expensive than staying off site. Value season dates will probably be the cheapest rates.

When are looking to go? The special AP5 rates run from January to March 6th only. You have to call to book them and you must say that you want an "AP5" rate NOT just "an AP rate." As the previous poster noted, the regular AP rates are a mere percentage off.

I believe the current rates for standard room on the AP5 rates are: PP $139 / DLH $159 / GCH $259. If I'm wrong, someone feel free to correct me.

What do you think will come after March 6th? Do you think another special AP rate will come out? Or when do you guys think we'll have rates as good as the AP4 rates again? (Those were great!)

I usually check the AP hotel discount calendar, and then I call. When they had the AP4 rate, the AP calendar showed those discounts on the days they were available. I have found the calendar to be pretty accurate. I always call because then I can arrange where I want my room, and make sure I get the AP discount. If you have a senior citizen traveling with you, you can get a senior rate if they are available, and that is 30% off the rack rate. Usually, if there is no special AP rate available the day I want to go (and I always verify that there isn't over the phone), then I ask for the AAA rate or the basic AP rate, which are equal.

I enjoyed the AP4 rates, too bad the AP5 rates aren't quite as good.

Well, my bday isn't until April 8th... so, I guess the AP5 won't work for me just yet... UGH!! This is so frustrating!! I really want to convince my dh we can go! :)

Thanks for all the advice! :)
