Hi - I tried to search for this but didn't have any luck - does anyone know if WDW ever offers AP discount rates for December? We are planning a trip for Dec 19-23 and I'm just crossing my fingers that we'll be able to get a passholder discount.

thanks for your help!
Cindy

Historically yes, but I doubt they will stretch that late into the month. They have no attendance problems that close to Christmas. The discounts generally stop by mid-December.

i'm thinking about getting an ap for 2009, we had one in 2007 and got a lot of good ap rates for our rooms. have you received some good ap rates with yours?

It seems that almost all of the resorts still have availability for Christmas week. Is this normal, when I was talking about going that week, everyone told me to "hurry up" or you won't get a room, so I booked. I have an AP and would love to get a discount........but wasn't counting on it especially for that week, I just wonder if bookings are down, or if it is not that uncommon for the resorts to still be open five months out. Just curious.

I stayed at FW in 2006 from 19th Dec until 26th and had a 30% AP discount. Last year was at SSR from 19th to 27th with 40% off so ther do have discounts that late. Last year I booked SSR in March and it was the only DVC resort available (except OKW) At the moment every single resort is available for that period including WL which usually goes early. I have booked FW for the same period this year but will cancel if there is no discount. Just could not bring myself to pay $375 a night, its nice but not that nice. With everyone worrying about the economy I will be amazed if Disney don't offer atleast the same discounts they did last year.

Wow 30% would be a dream!! This may have already been answered somewhere else, but can you book and then ask for the passholder discount when they become available or should we take a chance and wait for September? I think we may go ahead and book our plane tickets, since we know we are going - but the price just keeps going up and up!!
Thanks!

So, how does booking the AP rate work? Do they check it over the phone somehow if you have an AP or do they make sure you have one at check-in? The problem is, I have two AP vouchers from our Disney Wedding package that we'll be redeeming during our December trip but I'd like to get the AP rate since I already paid for those vouchers.

Interested in this as well. We're going 12/10-14 and would *love* any discount we could get. We're "splurging" on AKL club level. Has anyone had any experience applying a discount to club level?

Thanks!

They can book it as long as you have the intent to purchase an AP. I wasn't asked to show mine at check-in, but you might have to, and I would be brave enough to show up without mine, just never been asked for it.

The discount rates seem to be ending on Dec 18 this year. I was told this morning to look for the rates to come out the middle of August just after the 2009 packages are released, but you never know.

You can book the AP rate over the phone now but you are suppose to redeem your vouchers at a Guest Services located at one of the parks (not the resorts) and have the AP's with you when you check in. I just finished doing this last week. I jumped off the Magical Express and jumped on the bus to AK Resort. Then returned by bus to the resort and checked in. They never asked for the AP's but I was advised that it would be required. While you're at Guest Services, consider picking up a Disney Dining Experience Card for $60 for AP holders to get 20% off your table service meals (if you're not taking advantage of the Dining Plan).

This was VERY helpful advice! Thank you! Since we'll be staying at the Poly (first time!!!) it should be a hop, skip and a jump over to the MK! Is Guest Services anywhere near the Monorail? :goodvibes We do need a DDE card, too - we're going to be using that a lot for our small wedding events. :lovestruc

You can check in with the voucher, because that shows that you have purchased an AP. The DDE card does come in handy. Also your DDE card is good for a discount at the resort food courts.

Yes, I will get you the link. You can use you voucher to log into the Passholder website on WDW.com and get all kinds of info and that is where the discounts are posted.

Link to other AP holder benefits.

All of the benefits will be listed in the little car holder they give you when you turn in your voucher so it is always handy.

whenever we had our ap, we purchased them at our local disney store so we had the vouchers. now, we went on 6 different disney vacations in 2007 and not once did they ask for our ap. i didn't activate my voucher until my very 1st day @ the park. i always booked our rooms way in advance and then modified our ressie when the codes came out for aps. i'm so excited cause we are buying our ap for our feb trip. i get so excited planning my year at wdw!!!
have fun!

I've been a AP holder for many years and upon checking in to any of the resorts I've stayed at I've always been asked for my AP. I once checked in and hadn't yet purchased my AP, was asked for it and had to go and purchase AP before the end of the day (which I was going to do anyway) or I'd be charged regular room rate is what I was told. Be careful this doesn't happen, you don't want to risk getting charged regular room rate for not having your AP with you upon checking in. I recently stayed at AKL and had two different reservations, I was going to do a split stay instead while at AKL I changed my split stay to entire stay at AKL. I called and made the changes over the phone. On the day of the split I had to go get new room keys (didn't have to change rooms) I was asked again for our AP. Good luck!
