I am getting married at Disney next June. Since we will be staying more than a week and will also need to make a site visit (probably in January) we are interested in getting at least one or two AP's. Some of the info that I've read says that you don't need the AP to book the AP rate for the hotel reservation (you just have to present a valid AP at check-in). IS THIS TRUE? I know that new AP room rates come out tomorrow and would like to book a room for our site visit in January. Would I be able to make the reservation without already possessing the AP or AP voucher?

First, congrats on getting married!!:D
Now, onto your question. No, you do not need an AP or a voucher in hand when making an AP ressie. Just ask for the AP rate when making your reservation. (Trust me, I did this for my sister - I made the reservation months ago and she didn't buy the AP til about 2 weeks ago). You will need to have the voucher activated before you check in. You need to take it to Guest Relations at any one of the Disney parks before check in!
Hope this helps!!
