AP rate PLUS dining plan?

Has anyone ever been able to book using an AP rate, and add the dining plan? I know that generally speaking, the dining plan is only available if paying rack rate (or with AAA discount at a AAA travel agent), but since some with the 40% code were able to add dining, I was wondering if the policy is changing?

I thought it was only to get the FREE dining plan that you had to book rack rate.

The basis for this is that the AP rate is normally a room only rate. In order to have the DDP you must book a package with tickets.

The reason people with the 40% discount could have dining is because Disney had 2 codes - one for room only w/ 40% off and a second code for a package with DDP and tickets that gave 40% the room portion of the package.

You can use your AP to get a discount on the DDE dining plan. That's the 20% off card that can be used in almost any resort location and many of the major dining attractions in the parks. We saved about $250 last summer on our 10 day trip and plan to utilize again this summer. I love not having to worry about points, credits, menu selections, etc. What can I say, I'm on vacation---don't want to stress about our family's food choices

the DDP can only be booked with a package (room + tickets) - and yes, sometimes it is possible to get a discount on your room portion of the package (I know that disney offered discounted packages in Dec 05 and Oct 06 because I booked them - and of course, there is the current 40% off pin code which can be booked as a package as well).

Because your AP discounted room is a room only, you can not add the DDP.

I thought that I read last year on the boards that when free dining was offered some people got to keep their AAA rate and got the dining too. I may be wrong about this though.
