AP Question..........

OK, I have a couple of questions about AP's:

1) Is it worth it to buy one to get discounts on rooms? Over, say, AAA or waiting for package deals.

2) How many times can you use them?

3) Would I need them for the whole family or just one person?

4) Can it be used at DL?

Thanks so much for any help! :flower:

the AP is good for one year. if you go more than once, then it might be worth purchasing. not everyone in the family has to have one. and no it is not valid at DL. can't help about purchasing it just for the discounts as we are DVC members and go several times a year. :earboy2:

1) I have AP's but also DVC so I have never utilezed the discounts.

2)You can use them all year round. I love them!!

3) If you want to use them for the discounts than just one but obviously you need for the whole family for park admissions.
4) Sorry not for DL, but that would be nice.

You would have to consider your family situation as to whether or not its a good deal for you. We ended up going several times a year so the AP's have cost us alot more in the long run. :rotfl:

Good luck!! ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

1. Great savings for us -- For our May trip to AKL, it was worth the cost of an AP to get the discounted rate. We saved $100/night (7 nights) on our room. (We also taked on another night at CSR and saved $60 there.) We also bought the $50 DDE card. Within 2 days, we had more than gotten back the $50 fee. I've yet to total our savings using this, but I know it was significant.
2. They're good for a year. We have several trips planned (another in just a month), so this is great for us.
3. As noted by a previous poster, only one person in a group needs a pass for room, parking, food, and merchandise discounts. Since we are going to be making several trips to WDW this year, it was worth it for us to by passes (PAP's, actually) for all of our family members.
4. Nope.

I was told by someone else on these boards that DW APs can be used at DL but DL APs cannot be used at DW. Since DW APs cost more then DL APs they are valid for DL admission. I have not checked any further so I don't know if this is accurate info or not.

I've easily paid for my AP with just the room discounts. Of course, I go back more often, but the value is definately there. HOWEVER, do not buy one just for the discounts. They are NOT promised to come out. As for package deals, they are pretty rare - last year they did the "pay for 4 get 7 deal", and the early fall free dining plan came out this year. Overall, though, you can usually do better with the AP discount - it's usually the rock bottom, save for a few specialized e-mail or postcard codes.

For 366 days. :) For instance, if you buy it on August 1st, you get admission that day, and through midnight of August 1st of the next year.

For the room discount, only one member of your party needs to have the AP. Of course, everyone else would need seperate admission.

Nope, but DL tends to have more "deals" overall. I don't generally book packages at WDW because they rarely save money, but DL ones seem to be a better bargain more regularly.

NP! I'm a very happy AP holder - and I live on the other side of the country. With discount airfare and discount rooms, I really have gotten a lot more magic for my buck.

Good luck!

It isn't. AP's from either park cannot be used at the other. MYW PHs (not base) and old WDW PH/PHP's can be used at Disneyland but they must be converted manually at DL's Guest Relations. DL must call WDW Guest Relations to do the trade so it takes a while to do.

Nothing from DL (or any other Disney park worldwide) can be used at WDW.

1. Not if that is the only reason you want them. AP room discounts are not guaranteed and very limited.

2. Every Day, to hop from all four parks

3. For discounts? Only 1 person would need them.

4. Not at DL, sorry.

Speaking of AP questions...

I'm buying an AP to use on my August trip. We're staying at the CBR and I was told when I made the reservation that I had to present an activated AP at check-in. Since I obviously haven't been to the park yet, the plan is to leave family at the front desk, hop a bus to EPCOT (which I think is closest) and buzz over to get the AP activated and then hop a bus back to the resort for check-in. (Whew!)
Anyway, my question is: How long does it take to get a pass activated? Do I go to the front of the park where single day users buy tickets or do I show up at the turnstiles? We'll be arriving in the afternoon, what are lines like at that time to get the passes activated?

Actually, the first time we had our APs, we arrived late at night after all the places were closed and did not get to activate them. We were told the AP voucher is fine just to make sure we activated them the next day.
