I posted this over on the rates and codes board, but I'm not getting any responses, so I thought I'd post it here... Can anyone help?

We could obtain AP at the Military rate if my FIL purchases them for us. My question is, is he actually able to do so? I know that the AP's are assigned by name to the holder of the pass. We are not military. How would that work?

I don't think that would work..IMHO. I know when I got my AP last year, I had to show proof of FL residency before they would issue the pass at the discounted rate. You can try it I guess..but don't hold your breath.

He's going to call tomorrow and ask. I've searched their site and can't find any restrictions. He bought our Hopper Passes this past December, and there were no problems there. Shades of Greens website states that a Sponsor must be present during the purchase of attraction tickets. That's it. This would be huge for us if he was able to purchase AP's for us. Keep your fingers crossed.

I don't think it will work either. You have to show your license.

I was wondering if a Military ID would have to be the ID to show with your AP. MY FIL said that when he purchased our hopper passes last year, he had to provide the names and ages of each ticket holder, but that was it.

oops... double post...

Oh wait... actually, this might work. I was thinking of Fl Res Passes. Nevermind. I guess "FIL" made me think of FL. :teeth:

I didn't think we had a military rate for APs. I thought the max days was either 10 or 14 (can't recall). What is the AP military rate? Oh, and everytime we have been there (with the exception of when the military was free) we have never had to show military ID. We bought my parents tickets last Dec and they are not military. It does say on the tix that they are military rate and be prepared to show ID.

We bought our AP's at SOG for $500 a piece. DH asked for 3 AP's and they asked to see his ID to verify he was military. He then sold DH the AP vouchers. There was not a name attached to the vouchers. We then went to guest services to get them activated and that's when they added our names to the AP's. So you should have no problems with your FIL purchasing your AP's. :flower:

SOG has the prices on their website: Shades of Green

click on the Help and Information Tab, then down to PDF Download Section. All the ticket prices are there... including AP's.

when you activated your AP's, did you have to show a military I.D. or just your drivers license?

We just showed our Drivers license. :flower:

We just bought AP's for the 3 of us. (DH, DD and Me) HTH.
BTW we went to DTD guest relations.

I just called SOG and explained your situation and they said yes you can have your FIL purchase your AP's for you. He will need military ID when purchasing from SOG but you don't need Military ID to activate the voucher.

BTW I called guest services at SOG 1-407-824-2437 not tickets and attractions (they take way too long to get back to you) HTH :flower:

cocowum That was so sweet of you! THANKS! :) Diser's rock! :teeth:

Okay, I decided to call Disney Guest Relations and see what they would tell me. I got a wonderful cast member on the phone, who happened to be retired military herself! :goodvibes I regret that I didn't get her name, for she really went the extra mile for me to find the answer to my question. She ended up calling SOG herself and was told that my FIL CAN purchase AP's for us. Of course he has to use his ID to do so, and that his military ID is only need to PICK UP THE VOUCHERS. The CM said that once we get to WDW, we will only need our drivers license to validate and get our passes. Once we have the vouchers, that voucher proves we have qualified for our AP's. When my FIL purchases them, the vouchers will be assigned to us by our names. Since we are being sponsored, a military i.d. is not necessary for us. :cool1: What I'd really like to do is talk to someone actually at the Guest Relations office at MK or Downtown Disney (where'd we'd validate) and see what they say.

Thanks for everyone's help!
