Hi everyone,

We are planning a last minute trip to DL before my older son goes back up to college. We are really torn between staying onsite and staying off property. We done it both ways, and we really like staying on-site better...the prices are really out of our budget this time.

I'm considering getting an AP in case there are any AP rates that come up. Is it possible to make an AP reservation first (by calling DLH directly) and then order the AP online, or do I need to have an AP first?

Thanks in advance!

Sue

I am doing this same thing for our trip in October. I haven't had an AP since we lived in LA so I "bought" an AP to pick up when we arrive. I only paid for one night's stay at the GCH, so I guess I really "reserved" it. The CM on the phone said they have not released the Fall AP rates yet, but when they do just to call and see if any are available. We got the senior discount which is pretty hefty and would actually be happy with that...but will see when the AP rates are released. If there are not special rates you get around 10% off the rack rate, and you can get it if you order an AP.

I hope this makes sense!!! My brain is a little slow after spending the morning out in the smoky air!!

You can check and/or book the AP rates at the DL hotels before you actually get your AP. You just have to have it when you check in....

I just called and booked a room at DLH! I inquired about an AP rate as well as the AAA rate. She said that it was the same rate. The rate was $270/nt. Yikes! I guess the good old days of $129/nt are long gone!

I will just keep calling to check to see if there is a better AP rate available in the next few weeks and apply it to the ressie.

Thanks for the replies!

Sue

I have noticed the ap rates are not as supurb as they used to be.... our quotes were over $250 everynight we were interested... it is hard to just "pop" into disney for the weekend like we used to!

You can't have it when you check in if you reserved one over the phone and its first day of use is the first day you are in the park. I am not paying for it until I get to Disneyland. I will check in at the GCH, get some kind of temporary pass and then go to City Hall to get my official AP.

Last yer the good fall AP rates came out in mid July, so keep checking. We booked for PP concierge at 189 a night on the AP rate, and purchased our AP's at the hotel when we arrived. You just need the AP code, which I am sure someone will post here.

And we were told that we had to show our APs when we check in, so we would have to pick them up on our way to the hotel......

You don't actually need a code, you can just phone in to the hotel reservations and ask what the discounts available are....

That's not the "good" AP rate, that's just the standard AP rate, they release much better rates as time goes on. Just keep calling and checking, or check here and someone will post the rates when they are availabe. The rate you will be looking for is the AP7 rate.

Then we are getting two different stories...how would you get your AP before going to the hotel? How would you get in the park to go to City Hall to get it? Maybe someone who has done this could advise?

We're going to go to the hotel, store our luggage, then walk to the park to p/u our APs.

If I do get a better AP rate I plan on ordering my AP ahead of time. Will they send me a receipt in the mail, or can I print something at home if I order it online?

Does anyone know if AAA offers a discount on an AP?
