AP pass and percentage off of rooms???

When you have AP pass, do you get a % off rooms when you book? If so, is it all the time or just certain times through out the year? TIA

When, if and how much of a discount is pretty much up to the whim of Disney just like any other discount. Having an Ap does not automatically give you a discount.

Thanks, just trying to decide if an AP is a good thing for the family or not. We wait to book a vaca to Disney until we get a pin code and we no there is no guarantee of that.

AP room discounts are in blocks of time. There is no guarantee of a discount but your chances are fairly good you will get a discount when you want. The AP discounts are generally a bit higher for rooms than other promotions, however they aren't advertised as far in advance. We booked an AP discount of 42% for the Grand Floridian for the last week in March. There are limited numbers of rooms, but if you have an annual pass and keep checking for your dates you can get a great deal.

Here is what is currently posted on the WDW annual passholders website:

Winter and Spring Savings! Save Up to 42% at Select Disney Resort Hotels

Now you can save up to 42% at select Disney Resort hotels for stays most nights now through April 16, 2011.


For example, it is just $88 per night plus tax in a standard room at a select Disney Value Resort for stays most Sunday to Thursday nights 2/17/11, 2/21-2/26/11, and 3/11-4/16/11.

You need to purchase an annual pass to get onto the annual passholder part of the website. However, only one member of your party has to have the annual pass, not everyone.

At DLR the AP discount is a standard 10% off of rack rates, then occasionally they run sales for the next couple of months. Doesn't work very well for me since I'm a long range planner and will usually go with either my DVC or a good neighbor instead, but at least the AP rate is there ....

I am sorry to jump in and ask a question but I am hoping someone will know. My DD will be in the Disney College Program this fall and we want to get AP as we will be visiting when we take her down and of course visiting a few times while she is there.
My question is if I buy an AP now in a local Disney store is Syracuse NY can I check that for discounts now and if so does it have to be activated before her check in date in August to book a reservation?

They used to come out between the Visa and the GP discounts, but lately it has been all over the place. They do still tend to be better than the GP disounts.

As long as you know the AP discount code you want to use, you can book it without having it activated with no problem. The codes are usually posted on the boards and other places when they get released, or you can create an account on the AP site using the code on the voucher. When you check in you may be asked to show your AP to take advantage of the discount. Sometimes they will take the voucher, and other times they will make you come back within 24 hours with an activated pass or they will charge you rack rate. Depends on the staff.
