What outrage? That's FEAR!!!! I genuinely fear that a twit like Sarah Palin will become President if McCain wins in November. Will she usher in the age of American idiocy? Prolly. Also, with her children held up as an example, I think it will be acceptable for children to become pregnant, and teenage dropouts to make babies.

You have issues. How old are you? It appears as if you have a personal issue with Palin that is not healthy. I, and I'm sure others (not that I am speaking for anyone else) are kind of bored with it already.

Yes I do have issues. I have issues with Sarah Palin's stupidity. I've been around a long time (I'm 68 years young) and I have NEVER seen a candidate for public office as dimwitted, ignorant and uninformed as Sarah Palin. Is nobody noticing the the McCain campaign is not letting her hold any press conferences? Does nobody see that they are keeping her away from the Sunday morning political shows. In all my years I have NEVER seen a candidate for national office who refuses to take questions on shows like Meet the Press and Face the Nation. This is unprecendented!!! Yet people accept it because somehow they identify with Sarah and her family. How did we ever sink so low?

Except for me, of course. Seriously, do no other former Bush supporters see Palin for what she is? I blame myself because I voted for Bush in 2004, despite his lack of brains. Maybe you have never had a teenage daughter get pregnant, but many others have. Maybe you didn't sit on the sidelines watching your kids play sports, but many have. You also always seem to compare her to Obama. She's running for Vice President, not President. Many on the other side believe that she is equally or more qualified than Obama. Also, who are you to judge this young man, Levi, who says he loves Bristol and wants to marry her? For God's sake, they are trying to do the right thing. It is their business. For us to judge them, to mock them, is very sad. Really, get a grip.

So just because someone has unmarried sex and gets his girlfriend of, I think the article said three years, pregnant by accident he is a bum? Even if he is young and not out of high school yet. They made a mistake, everyone has. There is no reason at all for you to be as vile and hateful to them as you have.

I think a bum is someone who lives off the system and has kid after kid when they clearly cannot afford it.

BTW, I think they are the same age, and he wasn't a dropout when he "impregnated" her, just another teenage boy wrapped up in hormones thinking nothing bad could ever happen.

Dropping out of high school is typically a path to nowhere unless you are connected. He is obviously connected so the rules don't apply. Becoming an apprentice typically requires a high school education.

As someone who has dedicated their life to education and is married to someone else who has done the same I think anytime someone drops out of HS it's a tragedy. Even a GED isn't looked at the same as a diploma. I think completing something gives a sense of self worth that can't be quantitated. However, Alaska has a very high drop out rate but has opportunities for well paying jobs because of oil and natural gas that other areas do not. I would never advocate this position but you do have to look at it through the context of where they live. I also doubt that he had to use any connections to get the job. Oil companies are hiring right now. We have two friends who have no experience at all in the oil industry- both are small business owners- who in the last three months have shuttered their businesses to work off-shore. The starting salary was in the high forties with lots of opportunity for advancement and great benefits and job security. The salaries would have been almost double if they had agreed to go overseas. The job security and the benefits are what swayed them. It's tough for small businesses right now and they didn't feel like it was going to get any better. Of course there are only limited places in the country where working offshore is possible. The problem is that these jobs also are tough on families as well as the body. I would hope that there is also a plan for him to continue his education.

Also one of the articles I read said that he told them he had been advised not to talk to the media.
