AP Interview with Levi Johnston

Wow, they are just wayyyyyyy to young for marriage. How are they going to afford a baby and a home...was that asked in the interview??

Yikes, my DS(26) graduated in May with an advanced degree (Masters) and his DF(24) will grad May '09 with an MBA and they are SCARED of what they will be facing with this economy. He has a great job (insurance...they say it is recession-proof) but it is still a very scary world out there.....:sad2:

How can two "youngsters" (yup IMHO they are youngsters) going to make it??? :confused3

An electrician in the oil fields will make more money than a lot of college graduates. Especially in this economy. I would rather be working as an electrician or an engineer, you know something that is necessary to day to day living, than selling insurance:rotfl:. My dad sold insurance during the 70's recession and he said LOTS of people dropped their policies to be able to put gas in their cars and have electricity. Maybe your son should have majored in the hard sciences.

Why is the McCain/Palin camp throwing him to the wolves? I thought the kids were off limits? I thought the media was doing a great job respecting these kids privacy.

Personally I think it sick that Palin allowed the door to be opened again on this couple who are going through enough and don't need any media attention, both good or bad.

Is this another throwing the kid under the bus just to get poll points?

He does sound like a nice kid, IF those were really his words. I believe his myspace more, as it was done pre-MIL.

The article said something about him being asked not to give interviews, pretty much not to feed into anything, but he was approached in his driveway at his home. It's not like he went to a studio to do an interview.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with being an electrician but I would think that most people doing that type of work have a high school diploma. I have always thought that a diploma is the minimum you need to be considered for positions of responsibility. And you can forget about being an engineer without having a high school and college degree.

Yeah, but this is a high-school drop out who's going around making babies!!!! Where I come from we call that a BUM!! If that's the quality of person that now merits being paraded around proudly by a candidate for national office, GOD BLESS AMERICA, because we are gonna need it!!!

Like I said, a man cannot create a baby by himself.

You have an interesting definition of a bum. He'll have a job that will support his family and not collecting any sort of welfare. It's too bad that you think "the quality of a person" depends on such a criteria. Where I come from we call that judgmental. I love the tolerance that some liberals display.

I think the part that is so sad is not that they will be married at 17,18 years old but that he is dropping out of school. Things happen and people deal with it as best they can but surely there is a better choice than dropping out. They aren't married and don't have the baby yet so why drop out at this time. Maybe he thinks he couldn't finish the year but it will be much harder to accomplish these things after the baby gets here.

As far as the interview, I don't think it was a Republican strategy but he did appear to talk willingly to the reporter. Even if you are asked a question in your driveway, you have the option to say no comment.

Once again, he is apprenticing as an electrician. That is the skilled trade version of going to college. Not everyone in America has to spend four years of their lives being taught socialist propaganda and finding themselves.

On a related note, my DS goes to a college prep school. He has some class called research and development which is a college level class apparently. The book they have to read is essays by people who have had the most impact on society in the last 150 years according to the school system. Every author was a member of the communist party.

He didn't have to answer the questions, a simple not comment would have worked. Just because the questions were not asked in a studio does not mean that it wasn't an interview.

really? Because to tell you the truth, I know of more than a few men (and some women) who could take a few lessons from this 18yo BUM in facing up to your responsibilities and taking care of your mistakes. We also don't believe in degrading and punishing two young kids who are doing are trying to act responsibly because they are related to a Political Candidate that we don't like with senseless name calling.

Where I come from BUMS don't go get jobs so they can pay their own way, Brooklyn must be a much different place than Alaska or the Midwest. I guess we'll just chalk it up to regional differences.

You are right, drop-out Levi and his baby-mama are both pretty sorry specimens, and Sarah parades them around with such pride. What a class act the Palins are.

We are not talking about not going to college. This kid has dropped out of high school. I would think that even electricians need a high school diploma.

What job???? The kid's not working!!!! He "plans" to become an apprentice in the future. None of my girlfriends' fathers would have fallen for that one. Guess they had something the Palins lack: BRAINS!!!

Do we know he doesn't? My Niece was offered Graduation a year early. 10 kids in my son's class took their GEDs before their Senior year.

If he's in an electrician program, that is going to require schooling.

The article states that he has dropped out of high school and does not mention that he might have received his degree early. It even quotes his hockey coach as saying that he is sorry that he isn't in school. From reading his interview it would be an odd assumption to think he graduated early. I think they would have said that instead of saying that he dropped out.

The baby is due Dec. 18. Johnston has dropped out of high school to take a job on the North Slope oil fields as an apprentice electrician.

That job.

Whether or not your girlfriends and their Fathers want anything to do with you is your business, I have no opinion on it.

Frankly, I find your insistence that you have a right to be angry and judgmental over a situation that has nothing to do with you and has no bearing on your life to be downright creepy.

Well then why don't you just rejoice in the satisfaction that they are embracing another worthless human being into their fold??:thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Umm...naaa on the hard sciences...people TODAY are NOT dropping their insurance to put gas in their tanks....DS is working more overtime than ever and at time and 1/2 he is making some serious $$$$!!!!

My DH is a design (civil) engineer and let me tell you no one is building (homes) :sad2: anything right now....thankfully my DH designs rail and right now rail is so crazy....he is currently heading up the expansion of all hi speed and commuter rail here in SoCal....the project will take until 2012 to complete. He just ordered all the trains at one million dollars each  ...it will take two years to build just the trains.

Sorry, but I know trash when I see it. The Palins are trash and the baby-daddy is trash. And the thought that this mindless trash is going to govern our country...TERRIFYING!!!

Is that really necessary?! I don't agree with Obama's policies, but I would never call him nor his family the names you spew. It's as undignified as you try to portray others. :sad2:

ETA- I don't think that poorly of Obama. I'm just sorry to see how very low some of these threads go.
