AP hotel rates??

Hi there... I have seen posts where AP's got rooms at PP or DH for $79.00?? Are these rates only offered at odd times of the year? How do you find out when the rates become available?? I called to book a room and was told that as an AP, I would get 20% off the rack rate.. (i think it was 20%)

AP standard discount is 10%. The AP rates have been few and far between lately. In the past they've had great rates in January, but so far nothing this year.

When i called to book my trip there was only a 10% AP rate for anytime in january...

I thought I was wrong on the % off part....I was hoping that there was a "secret" to getting the special rate...
