Anyone else feel like AP Holders in some ways are missing out on these discounts? I understand that the Best Rate Program is available and in fact am booked using it now. But it seems to me that being unable to participate in MYW Dining without buying atleast a 1 day ticket for everyone in the room becomes a real deal breaker. I'd love to buy MYW Dining, perhaps even at a slightly increased rate without having to worry about buying tickets i'll never use. Anyone else share this concern?

Yes, I know exactly how you feel. I was excited to hear about the new discounts coming out, but we don't need the package and we're left out of the room-only because we're going Dec 2-8. I'm disappointed, but still looking forward to our trip.

I just checked the YC rates for our week using the room only new code---it was $700 more than my BRP price. I don't feel that bad anymore ;)

I am bummed about not getting more than a AAA discount (especially since we have 3 rooms!), but I am trying to look on the bright side. The DDE card is saving me a lot and Magical Express saves transfers.

But I won't buy an AP again. Better deals are available to non-AP holders these days.

I don't. We have our room booked at POR for our upcoming NOV trip at $109 plus tax a night. We have the DDE card which paid for itself during our Jan 2005 trip so all our savings during this past June's trip, our upcoming Nov trip and our Jan 2006 is gravey. We have a sitdown meal everynight and have alcohol with each dinner do the meal plan does not really work for us. Also, The numbers of days in the parks alone was less then if we had to buy tickets for each of our trips. It just really depends how often you go.

..
I do not think that is true in all cases. For my trip 12/4-12/9 I have the AP rate for Poly Lagoonview, for $1835.00. The new package with buying a one day ticket (which you have to do for a package) is $2146.00, so the BRP is still the better deal.
The code for the room only deal, which does not include my date yet, but the discount for a deluxe room $65.00 off is 15% off rack rate. My BRP rate is just about 20% off. So, so far the BRP has been a good deal

I am loving best rate so far! I saved $600 on my upcoming trip rack rate vs. best rate. My DDE card paid for itself last trip so it's all savings this time and my AP's were paid for in March so I don't have to buy tickets! I am actully loving being an AP holder. Luckily, I can plan my trips 4-6 months in advance and don't have to be a spur-of-the-moment type planner like some do, not by choice.

I was skeptical of best rate at first, and even mad, but I like it now as long as I keep getting a good discount.

They wouldn't let me buy a Dining Experience Card.. so far the AP hasn't really benefited me all that much.

Why wouldn't they let you buy a card? We were going to buy one in November for our December trip....hope there's no problems?

They said I was too young when I activated my AP.

What is an AP card? We went on a package last time and are going back with DVC but no meal plan. Trying to figure out the best way to do meals (most economical). Any suggestions?

Debbie

The DDE card is great, but as a family of 8 with 7 adults the fact that the DDE can't be used on the Candlelight Processional or on Fantasmic while the dining plan can makes a HUGE difference. The ability to purchase a dining package, even if paying rack rate but not having to purchase tickets would save us a good deal. It's a shame that they haven't at least changed the DDE's restrictions to accomodate AP Holders as they have the dining plan.

While there are some aspects about BRP that I don't like, I still feel like I have gotten the best deal possible for my November trip. This will be my 3rd trip on this set of APs, I have a DDE card, and my room at POR is less than the general public room only code released yesterday. No, the AP discounts aren't as deep, but still pretty good.

We did not use BRP (for several reasons), but we were able to get the room-only discount applied yesterday. (Thanks Dreams!)

I do feel I have gotten wonderful value from my AP: October will be trip #3, I got AP room rates for 2 trips and I have DDE. However, the trend I see is for packages, free dining etc. that seem to work better (many times, not for everyone) for non-AP holders.

We are taking a break from WDW next year, so I won't renew my AP anyway. With energy costs going through the roof and my property taxes doubling next year, I doubt we will ever be in a position to do WDW three times in 12 months again, so an AP would not have value for us without deep room discounts.

I'm happy that these General Public discounts that just came out, are in line with and/or slightly more than BRP. I feel I have a good deal on my upcoming trips.

I do have DDE and will use it extensively in December. Unfortunately, most of my eating for my October trip will be at F&W Festival booths, so won't have the savings that trip.

Hi,
Do you have an example were the General Public code is better than the BRP? I know that the moderates through the BRP for the week of Thanksgiving is $109 plus tax a night and the GP is $119 if avaiable plus tax per night.

If you have an Annual Pass (AP) then you can access a special area of the official Disney web site that allows you to book rooms through the Best Rate Program (BRP).

Looking at the package code for December, the rate was the same as my campsite in December. When I looked for the code to compare my room in October, the rate was $2.00 higher per night at Pop Century. So I havn't seen any general codes that were less than Best Rate.
