AP Holders staying offsite- No early entry, right?

So in March when we got our APs, we upgraded on the last day of our 3 day hoppers which meant we had one early day to enter. Last stay a few weeks ago, DH and I stayed at Grand Ca so we got early entry to the parks that way. We are returning again in November and staying offsite at HoJo. I assume, as AP holders, that means no opportunity for early entry, right?

Sure you can get early entry if you buy a three day park hopper.

No way it's worth 1 hr early entry to buy 3 day hopper passes when they have an AP.

OP, just start your day at CA on the days that they have Magic mornings at DL. Your discounts with your AP will more than make up for one hour missed at DL.

I've been trying to figure this out for a while. We also have APs that we purchased during our 9-day-long May trip. We were staying at the GC, and when we went into DCA for early entry, we had to show our hotel key and our passes. But... when we went to DL for early entry, we were never once asked to show our room key. How do they check at DL to see if you are staying onsite when you have an AP?

They are supposed to ask the same way - room key & AP. I would say it was a CM oversight not to check.

To the OP - you are correct, when staying offsite with an AP, you do not get any early entry privileges. I will second the PP advice to start at the park opposite early entry.

That's weird, it should have been the same at DL. Was it just one time that it happened or more than that?

I thought it was an oversight, but we were never asked one time, and we did 5 early entries into DL during May. We did stay off property in July for a week but we never tried to gain early entry any of those days. I wonder if we would have been asked for room keys then.

It is still an oversight. A few times we haven't been asked, but many more times we have been. My guess is, it's much more consistent at DCA because everybody would need by onsite, where at DL it's a mix of offsite & on. Although, anybody with an AP would have to be using EMH by being an onsite guest.
