I would like to book 2 rooms as an AP holder. One for some of my family and one for the rest of mine and my sisters'. We often book 2 rooms because of the party of 5.
She is not an AP holder. I am paying for both rooms.

Issue is, she arrives one day before us. So her checkin will be one day before ours. I could have her book herself a one day ressie for that first day and then possibly have to move to our room the next day. Not optimal, but doable if necessary.

Or will it be ok to have her check in the day before and if I am paying and have my pass with me when I arrive, there shouldn't be an issue?

I believe you have to show your pass within 24 hours of check-in, but I am a newbie, so I don't know if that is the final word or not.

I would call the resort and see what they recommend. It might be something as simple as confirming the number with them and then making sure you can show it the next day.

We went to WDW with APs on 4 trips last year and booked AP rates for 3 of the stays and were never asked to show our passes at check in or ever. I'm not sure if that is the norm or not.

I have booked many many trips using my AP discounts and I never once was asked to show my AP. I always thought that they had verified that I had an AP prior to my arrival.

Actually, that has also been my experience too! But I figured this might be the time they wanted to see it on checking in. But I guess if I'm paying and we have 5 APs in the party, they shouldn't have a issue.

Sorry, but I believe that the ap holder has to be staying at the hotel in order to get the ap rate. I would expect that your sister would not be eligible for the night that you are not there.
Unfortunately, it doesn't matter who pays for the room.

On my last visit (nov) I was asked for my identification and for my ap at check in. There have been some visits when I haven't been asked to show it as well, but they do sometimes ask to see it.

The gp rate is usually almost the same as the ap rate. I would book her a one night at the best gp rate available , then switch to an ap rate(if it is any better).

Thanks. I think I will have her book with the GP rate for that first night just to be on the safe side. I would be worried that she would be given a hassle upon arrival otherwise. And at that point she would only be able to pay rack rates likely. Not worth the stress.

I may call the resort just to confirm my plans.
