AP holder adding dining plan to room only reservation??

So, I have read that a dining plan can be added. My questions are 1. how far in advance of the trip does this need to be done and 2. how much does it cost for 3 Disney adults and a child? Anything else I need to know? Thanks!

If you're a DVC member, it's 48 hrs before. For everyone else, it's 72 hrs.

Total cost per night should be $179.25 for QSDP, $252.22 for DDP, and $388.74 for DxDDP

Once you add the dining plan it becomes a package and all the rules of a package reservation will apply (e,g, final payment deadline, change fees, cancellation deadline). If you add the dining plan within 30 days of arrival, the entire cost of the package will be due at the time of booking.
