If by some crazy miracle we get to go to DL for one of our birthdays this year, we would definitely utilize the "FUN Card" freebie and I can guarantee you there would be no problem for us to spend the entire thing in one day! Of course, we don't get to go very much so we do tend to long for souvenirs! Not to mention, alot of the stuff I wanted last year was $45 and up!

Are Tigger Tails pre-wrapped, like a lollipop, and sold inside a regular gift shop? (I've obviously never gotten one, but I know what they are). Cuz if so, they probably qualify as "merchandise" - just like any candy with a barcode would.

It seems to be more a matter of *where* you buy it. Marceline's is a place where you can use the fun cards, as is Pooh's. But you couldn't go buy a cookie at Blue Ribbon, because that is a food place, while the others aren't (and this makes no sense for Marceline's) food places.

I noticed that mouseplanet has a really nice explanatory write-up (by one of their official writers who gets official info (I imagine)) of the changes in the funcard, like no expiration now, but you can't get money back if it's under $10, like CA law causes to allow with actual giftcards.

No, they are not packaged or sold inside a regular gift shop. They are sold only in Pooh Corner and they give them to you in a little bag, but it's not a sealed bag. They just sit in the cabinet until they are purchased.

I would imagine that would be - at least partially - because they receive no benefit from that - the money just walks right off their property. Having to use the remaining $10 (or whatever amount) means there's a good chance that you'll buy something for more than that, and pay the difference. Or something. I had a good explanation all thought up but that's the best I can phrase it

QUESTION about pre-registration...

I pre-registered me and the kiddos. However, I did not get an email. Is this something that comes right before your birthday? DS birthday is on Friday and my mom is driving down with the kiddos just so he can go to the parks on his bday and get his fun card.

The main difference is that the Fun Card is valid at locations operated by DLR Store Operations, and not at locations operated by DLR Restaurant Operations.

Marcelines Confectionary, Candy Palace, and Pooh's Corner are all considered part of Store Operations. While Blue Ribbon Bakery is part of Restaurant Operations.

It doesn't make that much sense, but I'm sure there are legalistic and business reasons for doing so.

I got mine right away a couple months ago when I registered, and apparently DB took my advice and registered himself then as well - because when I did it for him recently, he got an email politely telling him that he didn't need to do it again

So, yes, you're supposed to get it right away. But make sure your email address is correct, it didn't end up in your junk mail, blah blah blah

If all else fails, call Disneyland and ask what you need to do. Someone else on this thread mentioned that they were able to get it without registering, so perhaps (if you bring his ID or birth certificate) they can do it anyway. Just check and see where you'd go in that case

Do you need different email adresses to register yourself and your spouse online? I'm already registered with Disney, just haven't done my birthday. So I wonder if I can sign up DH with the same email as mine because they first want you to register with My Disney. As of now, we only have one home email.

Also, anyone know how regsitering first helps you if you still have to go to the ticket booth first? And I imagine you would still have to show your driver's licence.

I signed up the first day the promo started. My bday is Feb.8 and I have not recieved anything! Do you get it right away or a few days before your bday? Can I go in the afternoon to get it so I dont have to wait in a long line? It looks like you go to a regular line not guest services I dont want to spend my whole morning waiting in line! I have the AP from Costco so will have to stand in line inside to get my photo. Anyone know how long that takes?

We got Micah's on Wed the 7th. We went to City Hall and it took us about 10 minutes. We were not preregistered because everytime I tried to do that it told me Micah's b-day was invalid......interestingly enough. LOL And yes, I was doing it right. He was not able to use his card on food and we were told by one CM that he didn't have to use it all in the same day but he was told by another that he did have to use it all in the same day. He did, he bought himself a sweatshirt and the girls 2 toys. It was very easy...no ticket booths for us!

Do you think you were able to go to city hall because of your AP? Did they ask to see it?

hi there, i have a few questions for you about the "fun card"....do you get the card outside the parks before you go in??? The reason i ask this is we are going to be there for 10 days in may with 5 day passes...my daughter turns 18 on mothers day....it wasnt a day we were going to go in to the parks, as it will probably be crazy busy....This leads to my last question, can the card be used in downtown disney...We will go in that day for her to get her free gift of course (we wanted one weekend day for later hours anyway) but just wanted to know excactly how this works...thanks for anything and everything you can tell me,i am still a little confused

I also signed up in December......... heard nothing. Sign up again, got an e-mail telling me I did not need to do it again, with a certificate. Got an e-mail today, stating it was the final reminder with the certificate. BD is Jan 25 so exactly two weeks out. WE will be there 1/23-25.

Will check out the lines on 1/23 and 1/24 and times to try to prepare for 1/25.

Maybe you can do your AP photo and BD card at the same time? I have seen long and short lines at city hall. We just go first thing so we can get on with the fun....

I was there for my B-day on Friday (1/9). I had the Costco AP voucher and instead of standing in the regular ticket line, I went to the Guest Services line and they took care of everything. I used the $50 giftcard towards an upgrade from the Deluxe AP to Premium and opted for the $69 Birthday Funcard.

I did not print out my registration email for the birthday promotion but the CM said that it was okay as long as I had my driver's license or another form of ID to prove it was my birthday.

I would definitely go over to Guest Services to take care of any vouchers or the birthday promotion. The whole process took ten minutes!!

Is Guest Services outside the gate? I never paid any attention.

Last July when we upgraded to APs we went to the bank around 11am and there was only one person in front of us. At the start of the Jan, the lines stayed LONG all day. So for that, I guess it depends on the day.

Guest Services is outside the gates, next to the lockers. So as everyone is heading straight for the regular ticket booths, just make a left to the guest services counter.

I should add that I didn't need to retake my AP photo because the CM told me that as long as it had been less than two years before my previous APs expired, then my info (including the photo) was still in their system. The only think I had to do was to update my address since it had changed.

The pre-registration is NOT necessary. It just means that, in theory, they can scan the barcode and not have to type stuff in. But I read that their systems aren't reading the barcodes so they have to type things in anyway, LOL.

You can do it without pre-registering, no worries.

And yes, no matter what, you must have your gov't issued ID to prove that it's your birthday, even if you pre-register.


Guest Services is to the left of Disneyland (when facing DL's gates). I read on mouseplanet that someone went to Guest Relations, which is to the left of DCA (when facing DCA's gates) sort of around a corner (next to lost and found), and they were able to help them, too.
