AP expiring, Question to ponder...

Ok, my situation.
Our APs expire 9/26. We want to keep them but are thinking of letting them expire and getting "new" ones on our trip in October. The reason is to hit both our Fall trips (10/2011 and 10/2012) with the new AP. The dates work out with /school scedules etc... We also go 3-4 other times besides Oct.

I have read that you can renew up to 30 days after anniversary date. But I do not want to renew and keep the 9/26 anniversary date because it will throw off my planning and the October trip next year will not fall into our AP window.

So, can I let the current AP expire and then buy "new" APs not using the renewal discount? So my new anniversary date will be 10/10 instead of 9/26.
Does this make sense to anyone else?

I know the renewal discount is $20 per AP, but I would rather loose that and have a different anniversary date! ;)

Thanks for any opinions!

I don't know the answer, but I have a similar question. If you don't mind ms piggy-backing on your thread I'd like to ask it here. If not, I can start a new thread. :)

You can renew whenever you want and the day you buy will be your new anniversary. Although if you go a month past the expiration, you aren't considered a renewal anymore, but a new purchase. They still have all your info in the system, though.

Also, a cool trick I learned this year. We bought Southern California Select passes and then decided to upgrade a couple of months later. You can upgrade on a blockout day and get admission for the day, even if the pass you are upgrading to is blocked. Next year we'll be buying passes in August and then upgrading on Thanksgiving day so we can go when the crowds are down.

According to what I have been told by multiple CMs, this is not true. If you renew, your anniversary date remains the same as the previous pass that is being renewed. If my pass expires on August 10, and I renew on August 5 (before it expires) or August 15 (after it expires), then my expiration date is August 10 of the next year, according to the explanation provided by the CMs I spoke to at the park. The one time I actually renewed and didn't let my pass lapse, the anniversary date remained the same as the previous pass.

This is true according to what I was told and experienced recently. Once you are a month past your expiration, if you purchase an AP, you will get a new anniversary date.

I don't mind at all and glad you posted...makes me validate the issue :lmao:

Thanks for your input guys!
But I wonder if I just let it expire and buy the new ones without the renewal discount, if they will still be considered a renewal. Or if it will automatically be caught in the computer system somewhere. hmmmm, maybe I will call tomorrow and ask! :rolleyes1

Thank you! :goodvibes

Here's my question:

We have AP's that expire on 11.25. We are going to DLR on 11.24 this year, but we also have 6 day PH's that we got through our Costco package that we intend on upgrading after the AP's are no longer blocked out. Does it make more sense for us to renew our AP's rather than upgrade the PH's? And if we do upgrade, what will our new expiration date be?

Thanks!
