Hey Group, need some help with AP, Have normally been a hopper pass type person b/c can only afford 1 trip a year, but this year will be going in Aug & Feb. What r the perks of an AP and what kind of Room discount can you expect. When does the year start, @ purchase or @ the first time you use the AP in the parks? Can anyone steer me to a good site that explains AP perks. Want to stay @ the GF in Aug what is the best route for the best discount. Thanks for any & all help!

Hi,
APs start the first time you use it.
Here is a site that gives some perks of the AP.

www.themeparks.com/wdw/index.htm

You can also go to

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/passholder/landing?id=TouristsPassholdersAnnualPassLandingPage

There is an AP section, but I think you have to use a code on the back of the AP so that wont work for you.

To check for good APs codes go to

mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html#discountmenu

She is really good at being up to date. Also that site has an AP code history so you can check about when they MIGHT come out IF they have any.
Its not a sure thing, but IF they come out its been around a 30-40% savings depending on where you plan to stay.

Hope this helps and if any of this is wrong info somebody please correct me.

If you buy an AP voucher over the phone or via e-mail, the year starts when you exchange the voucher for the actual pass (even if you don't enter a park that day).

Thanks for the swift reply, those sites have really helped!

Deb's site has all the info

http://allearsnet.com/pl/apass.htm

--In general, the room discounts can be up to 40% off, but they are not always available.
--You get a 10% discount at World of Disney store at DTD.
--newsletter
--free parking at theme parks (not with FL seasonal pass)
--discounts at water parks, pleasure island, and disney quest
--discounts at selected restaurants for certain meals (usually lunch)
--discounts on tours, spa services, and recreations (boat rentals, mini-golf, etc.)
--opportunity to buy special merchandise
--some passholder only events occasionally (we got to do a preview of Asia in AK before it opened to the public)
--varitey of other things....

She also has a "break-even calculator" on her site if you want the financial comparison
