I wish I would have known to upgrade my park hoppers during our trip.
Too late now. So now I am planning on purchasing AP's for next go round.

Are there ever any "deals" on AP's?
Kind of like, buy online save $20 .. (like the park hopper I bought)

Anything??? Should I just buy them now? Or wait to see if there are any specials coming up once the current ones expire?

My next trip is planned for Jan 2009, but I would love to go sooner. (only thing holding me back is the fact that IASW is closed- DL just didn't seem the same without it & my ds's college schedule)

One more quick question... if I buy 3 AP's can my dd and I use 2 of the AP's , my ds use one when he can go, and I take a guest when he cannot with the 3rd?

TIA all you experts.

APs have your picture on them, and when they scan your card your big huge picture pops up on their screen. So you can't share. Unless you're an identical twin, I suppose. :upsidedow

I have seen people mention that when they buy APs (or tickets) online at disneyland.com, a coupon pops up for a percentage off of a purchase. So if you're planning on buying stuff there anyway, it can act as a discount off your total money about-to-be-spent. But I don't know if the coupon is still available, and I don't know if you can tell if it's going to show up before you actually complete the purchase.

IASW is *supposed to be* open during the holiday season, which would mean you could maybe go in December, but I've also heard that the opening might be delayed (though that might just be a rumor).

I think the vouchers would "keep" until January before you activate them, but I don't know for sure. Of course, I would wonder if any coupons that might be offered during that purchase would expire by that time...

Sorry you didn't know to, or didn't know you wanted to, upgrade your tickets at the time.

Thanks... didn't know they took your pic.
& yeah I didn't know I had the option to upgrade until I got home and saw someone else ask on here about upgrading. That could have saved me a load of $$$... I still have 1 day left on 5 day park hoppers and can't get back down there (7hr drive ) before April 1st to do it. oh well.

Which leads me to another question...

If I would have upgraded while there last week, would my "year of use" on the AP started ticking from that trip or the first time I used them as an AP?

I believe that AAA has a $20 discount per AP (but things change, so double check! ;) ) Or if you are a DVC member there is a $20 discount for your initial AP (not good on renewals).

Remember when you go to the park for your AP to bring your parking receipt with you. If you choose to add parking to your AP they will credit that $11 toward your parking add-on.

edited to add: your AP start date will be the FIRST day your parkhopper was used, not the day you are upgrading.

Thanks!

ok I like that answer that the upgraded AP start date would have been the 1st day I used my PH. I think I will get more use out of the AP in 2009 than I would have Mar 08- Mar 09... That makes me feel better. :hippie:

Maybe I am too late to ask this but if you are an AP holder do you get discounts for purchasing park hopper passes?

Like our annual membership with the zoo, any guest we bring gets a discount on their admission.

Wait, wait!

If I have AAA I can get a $20 discount on my AP upgrade? It's never been used.

No, the AAA $20 discount was only offered for CA AAA members, IIRC.
And it is only offered if you purchase the AP's online, not during an upgrade.

perfect! I will check out CSAA's website .That will save me $60 total if it's $20 for each AP! Thanks again experts! :lovestruc

based on Califgirl answer it is considered "used" on an upgrade, right?
As in the trip you upgraded on is considered your 1st visit using the AP;
since the year clock has stated ticking. :confused3

Let me get this correct..

If I purchase a AP online and have a California AAA membership, I will get a $20 discount??

I will be going to DCA for the first visit using my annual pass, what do i do?

Meaning you'll have your voucher that is pre-paid, and you need to get it turned into an AP?

Since you have to have your picture taken, and since right now, as far as I know, the only cameras for APs are at Disneyland, you might actually have to go over there first. I think. :)

Yes, I have one of credit card types from the Disney Store. So I'll have to go to Disneyland first before going into CA adventure?

Alright, I better makes sure I'm all perty!:lmao:

I purchased my AP online from Disneyland.com for our trip this past November. Because we arrived late in the afternoon on the day the holiday festivities officially started, I knew DL would be crazy so we opted to go to DCA instead for that evening. We entered DCA through the GC and they scanned my AP voucher and told me to go to Guest Relations...at least I think it was Guest Relations, it was at the very front of DCA just before you get to the turnstyles. The CM there entered all my information in and then gave me something, don't recall what it was, but I had to take it over to DL to have my picture taken in order to get my actual pass. He told me it didn't have to be that night if we weren't planning on going to DL that night, it could be the next day, but DH and I just decided we didn't want to have to take the time to do that on our first DL day so he stayed with the kids at DCA and I went over to DL and had my picture taken and got the actual AP.

LOL, so long story short, no, you do not necessarily have to go to DL first even though that's the only place you can get your actual AP with the picture on it, at least that's the way it was in 11/07.

Thanks for the clarification.

Could you use the voucher they gave you at DCA for FP?
