AP discounts and free dining?

just got finished booking a room for october and asked the CM about upcoming AP rates, he said they should be the same as last year but they were going to offer free dining with AP room only discounts. thats right I said it! I had to question him since we have been annual passholders for years and never heard of this. He said the FREE dining promotion would be offered with the next round of AP discounts. Still say he was wrong, but you never know with disney and thought it would be worth sharing.

And if that happens we'll not only be going down next month, I see a 3rd trip for this year on the horizon. Still thinking Miss Piggy would learn to fly 1st, so will not bother getting hopes up and just continue planning for Jan 2011.

I had originally booked a room for October 5th-13th on a 20%bounce back offer in June. I keep watching for an AP rate for our October trip. Today I called and a really helpful CM tried to get me a better offer. I first asked her if there were any codes for my name and there was not. But she offers to check my husband and 2 grandsons again nothing. So I explain that I am a pass holder and she says let me check that. She asks me if I currently have a passholders rate and I explain it is a bounce back offer for 20% and I really would like a better offer. She asks me to hold on(it takes about 5 minutes) she comes back and says I think I have you a much better rate. She then ask me to hold again this time its about 15 minutes(thank god we have unlimited long distance)she says I could not understand why I could not apply the code but my manager told me to tell you to keep calling back around the 3rd week in August and I would be rewarded....can only guess what that means. She did say do you still plan to stay at POP and I tell her it is our favorite resort. She then says oh good call back the 3rd week in August. I will keep you posted as I will call back many times before that. She did schedule ME for us and I did purchase our Halloween tickets for the 7th of October using the discount for AP holders.

This would be a new twist in the AP world of discounts. I've been a AP holder since 1995. Something like this might convince me to add a unplanned trip and isn't that what the discounts are for? I've taken 3 trips this year and still have 2 more coming up.

If this does come out do think I would be able to get both discounts? Here is our situation...We are staying at Coronado springs and have free dinning booked...but if this offer came out only me and DD Sould have APs and DD's two friends would have magic your way tickets. I don't know how that would work...hmmm

We are AP holders and are waiting for the next batch of discounts to be released. According to what I have read, (Mousesavers website has some great charts) AP fall rates (Oct-Dec) were released on 7/22 (2009) and mid August in 2007-2008.

Now it's September?

Sounds like pretty good logic to me!!! And lets not forget, not having to buy that 1 day (or 2 day ticket) that we don't need.

There sure are a lot of different predictions out there as to a possible release date for Fall AP rates!! I have spoken to 3 CM's at the reservation call center in the past 10 days who said they expected them either last week or next week. So far, nothing.

I really don't care about free dining or DDP either, just the discounted room. However, if there are free meals, I would use some of them (not all, though....too much food!)

I'm not going to get too excited, but that would be an amazing deal. We always tend to go with the AP discount, but we always wonder if we'd prefer Free Dining. Getting both would be a tremendous value for us. I can't really see how they could do it though.

Same here and try that 1-2 day ticket x 5! That was pretty much how much we spent on food OOP after TiW on our trip in Feb! As if 5 APs weren't bad enough...

While it's tough to have to buy all those tickets up front, what's nice is you can keep those tickets as a sort of "down payment" towards your AP renewals, or just keep them for future trips =)

That works for me, too! If I don't have to give up my discount, the free DP is great & I'd just order what I wanted OOP (with the TiW card, of course!). That would be so worth it!

I can't see them doing this either. I would love it though, I'm not planning to renew my pass, but I would reconsider if this came about.

And then I wonder if they ARE going to offer this deal because of all the people not renewing or buying AP's. I'll bet they are down given the economy and also the package deals offered of late. A whopping good AP deal would strum up a lot more business for them because instead of one package deal, people may end up returning to disney more often to utilize those AP's.
