I know that only one member of the party has to be an AP holder in order to get the AP discount, but does it matter who the AP holder is?

For instance, can the AP holder be my DS (8), or does it have to be the person whose name is on the reservation?

I asked this question of CRO & they told me you can use a childs AP to reserve & benefit from AP discounts. I would double check this with CRO when you book your trip.:D

I was told just the opposite!! It would be nice if Disney gave the same info to everyone.

I was told that the reservation had to be made in the name of a legal adult and, therefore, the AP discount couldn't be made in a kid's name.

This has been an on-going debate. CRO said the reservation needed to be in the adult who wa payings name, but the AP could be a childs.

I know some people on this board have done this with success, can those who have(or those who had a problem), please enlighten us.

Thanks :D

We'll be at WDW while I'm at a business conference with ressies at the Poly concierge 3/14-23, booked at an AP rate. We have an AP for my 7yoDD which we will use. Because of the conflicting info, I have called CRO 3 times in the last month to ask the very same question you all are asking. Fortunately I have received the same answer all 3 times...that yes you can book ressies with a child's AP. The 3rd time I called, however, they did change the name under which the reservation was held from just my name (I kept my maiden name and booked it under that name for company reimbursement purposes) to the names of all 4 family members. The CM at CRO was uncertain what to do when I asked her the question about having to book it under the AP holder's name, so she transferred me to a CM at Guest Services who seemed quite knowledgeable about the process and assured me it would not be a problem. I'll know for certain in 4 short days!

We've done this. When I made the reservation, I asked CRO about it. We were taking my niece with us and she was the one with the AP. CRO said it was no problem. As long as someone who was listed in the room had an AP it was okay that it was a child. When we checked in, the cast member at the desk was also aware that it was a child's AP we were using and that I only had a 5 day park hopper. They did ask to see her AP - but there was no problem with her being a child.
